Will this work also with my G23, as I have been told that the .40 S&W will fit in the same mag as the 9mm.

Thanks

If no one else posts answer, I will check.

ETA: Nope, dont work very well, got 18 rds in then it binded up, does not feed well either.  Hope this helps.

No the feedlips are closer together, and the inside metal liner is also narrower. You did better than me, I only got 14 to go in.

It's pretty simple to conform the feed lips to .40 specs.  Don't know about the volume of the mag, though.

Also, the follower in 9mm mags are different than .40 mags, and it does seem that the internal width of 9mm may not be as wide.  Surely someone has tried to put a .40 follower in 9mm mag and open up the feedlips.

They do sell 29rd .40 cal mags, they are almost double the price of the 9mm ones, but with all the time and modding, it might be a better use of your money.

yeah, only problem is they are aftermarket and have been kind of iffy as far as functioning from what I understand.

Lot easier just to take a sharp stick and poke yourself in the eye!

Fixed it for you  Scherer mags are the best way to make a Glock malfunction, at least every time I've seen someone use one. What good is a high capacity mag that won't feed more than a few rounds before binding up?

Are you running an older Scherer?

I've got two of the newer .45 ACP versions that have a metal liner just like the OEM G18 mag, and have had absolutely 0 problems.  I have probably 250 rounds through one of them in my G21, and know of a coworker who has three times that through a .40 Scherer, and no problems.

The old ones suck...the new ones with the lining seem to run just like the 9mm factories.

You mean the ones that are partially metal lined like the second generation Glock magazines? Or are they full metal lined now?

The civilian version of the Kriss is going to be on the market soon.  It uses Glock 21 mags.  Anyway, the reason this is relevant is that the company making the Kriss is going to sell a kit to extend G21 mags to 30 rounds.  They had one at a local gun shop when they had a bunch of factory reps do a mini gunshow.

It is mentioned here (pdf) on the right side where it says "magazines."

I have a Scherer 33 rounds mag for my G19, and never had a mlafunction with it. Not even one.

762,

All of the 40s and 45s we've been getting from Scherer direct have been fully metal lined.

Never tried the newer ones, I got burned with a couple of Scherers a few years back and won't bother trying them again.  Some shooting buddies have tried them more recently, and they had all sorts of misfeeds.  The best fully loaded mag of the bunch fed 4 rounds before binding up.  A couple of the mags were happy with being loaded about halfway full, and fed just fine.  But when fully loaded the spring didn't seem to have enough power to push the rounds up.  I also saw someone who dropped a loaded .40 mag at the range, and well, it was the fastest I've ever seen a mag get unloaded

All of my Glocks these days are 9mm, so I can just use the factory ones, and factory 33 round mags are pretty cheap--about $25 or so depending on shipping.  For the .40 and .45, obviously the only choice is aftermarket.  Hopefully Scherer is putting out a quality product now.  Personally, if I had something other than 9mm Glocks, I'd just buy more standard capacity factory mags.  YMMV

Sorry to hear that you're having bad experiences.  From what I've observed, the Scherer's we've gotten in the past 6 months to a year have been reliable.

I too, stick to the 9mm stuff so I can use the 33 rounders...

I had a 29rd Scherer mag for my 23. It was cracked and bulged 3/4 the way down the left side and still functioned reliably. I got rid of it like five or so years ago otherwise I would post some pics. I would not buy one again though.

I'd like to see some pics of the FML mags.  I've never seen a FML scherer.  All the ones I've owned have been NFML like the old glock mags.

I'll try to get some photos up, but no guarantees...camera equipment is pretty limited on my end.

If not, I'll do my best to find a link to Scherer's site, they might have pix.
