Thought I'd post this simple message that many Glock fans already know about the pure and simple goodness of Glock as a reliable weapons platform. I put on my 2008 agenda to compete in a few IPSC pistol matches this winter and spring and have already been to a couple with some interesting observations. With all of the tricked-out (scoped and ported) 1911/45s, Berettas, Sigs, HKs and Paras that I have seen some of the competitors whip out of their range bags, they have all jammed up or crapped out at one point or another at these meets, but not the Glocks. I am using some substandard ammo in my G35 (just to get rid of it) like A-Merc and Wolf 40 S&W and I am still scoring well with no jams or FTFs. I even dropped my holster in the sand, shook it off and proceeded to shoot my fastest and most accurate relay right afterwards. Glocks are good to go dudes! But then again, many of you already knew that. |
| And my other fav feature about the Glocks besides the reliability aspect is the inherent platform modularity. I have two lowers and four different uppers (G35, G35, G17L and G34) so I can shoot a variety of calibers and swap them around instantly depending on the event. Just like my ARs...simply outstanding. |
Funny, I've owned and shot more Colt 1911's over the years than I can count, not to mention several customs from various top name builders, and many semi customs from EB, LB, and Wilson. None of these were as reliable as ANY Glock 21 or Glock I've owned. I guess I just must of got some bad ones huh? Is your Glock 21 one of the first ones made in need of upgrades? How old are the mags? What # followers are in them? Are you "over" lubing it thinking you're putting oil in your 1911? Have you looked into why it isn't reliable or even considered calling Glock? |
I agree, I think someone has a sig line of something to the same effect about drinking his urine. That said, if you had to guess at the reliability of a NIB Colt (any manufacture date) and a current NIB Glock, I think the choice is pretty obvious. As long as we're all honest with ourselves, I think the answer to the reliability question is pretty clear: well made (HK, Sig, Glock, Colt, etc.) handguns of modern manufacture are going to be pretty reliable - but Glock is the top dog. |
