When the slide is closed with no round in the chamber and I attempt to feed in a magazine, the magazine will not snap into place. Tried it with both magazines. When the slide is open, the magazine will slide in and catch. Is this standard with Glocks or is there a problem with mine?

give the mag a nice slap on the bottom, it should seat

I have tried that, and it won't seat.

well first thing, i'd try slapping it again, or setting it down on a table and pushing down hard, it could just be a stiff mag spring. then i'd check the mag catch and mag release for damage, but if the mag is catching with the slide open there is no reason (that i can think of) that it wouldn't catch with the slide closed.

Hmm....I tried it with only 14 rounds in the magazine and it worked correctly. But with a 15 round magazine with 15 rounds in it, it would not seat.

well then everything works ok, its just a stiff mag spring.

Nest time slap it in a little harder, your not going to hurt anything!

Dude, it's a Glock.

Many a times i've thrown my G19 across a field to drive home a point that 1) They are safe if you drop (or throw them) and 2) that they are durable.

It will be difficult to seat a full mag on any closed slide/bolt because the spring will have to be compressed a bit more which is difficult with a full magazine.
