I have a $2000 match built 1911 and my $500 G20 is ridiculously close to the accuracy of it.

You will not be disappointed with it at all. 10mm is the way to go. You get the best of both worlds, big heavy bullets moving very, very fast.

More accurate than any other Glock I've fired or owned but not as accurate as my 1911.

I've found it to be roughly the same as any of the other full size Glocks I've had.

Quite good!
You will need to get some reloading stuff for your 22nd birthday.

hmm... i'm thinking this summer i'll stock up on mags and get maybe 1000rounds of 10mm 180gr JHP, and get the G20 in time. i figure get as much of something as you can now, before the election, so the panic of either candidate winning won't jack up prices. after all, alot of people think mccain isn't gun friendly, and lets face it. obama..... imma stock up this summer!

whats the kick of the 10mm vs, say a .357 magnum? can you fire your G20 with one hand?

G20s don't recoil badly at all. I've not shot mine for groups but I know a guy who, with a SS barrel and his reloads, shoots 4 minute groups with his G20.

I can attest to this.

Years ago, I had a friend with a high-dollar custom 1911 and we could both shoot my G20 as well if not better.  I've had similar results with most other guns.

ETA:  It's more accurate than I am.

hmm, what about a bar-sto barrel?

and can you shoot it one handed?

10mm looks more and more fun. i was looking at a USP in 45, but a 10mm glock seems to be calling

Thats funny because I sold my USP .45 to buy my Glock 20. It was a trade up without a doubt.

is the glock 20 on par in terms of accuracy?

My USP, while I could shoot it quite well, was a gun that most everyone else that shot it had a hard time getting groups out of. Most found it to shoot low. I never had problems with shooting point of aim.

I do, however, feel that my Glock 20 groups a fair bit tighter and is much more smooth. Believe it or not, the recoil is not as harsh with the Glock, at least to me.

I hope this helps.

Using a rented G20 at a local indoor pistol range, slowfiring I could put 15 rounds into a space the size of a deck of cards at 25 yards.  And I'm not a particularly good pistol shot.

Amen to that.

My 20 shoots better than I do even with a rest.  The big frame makes recoil seem light.  The only problem is also the big frame.  It may take a while to adjust your grip.  But the recoil is so mild, you don't actually have to hang on to it.  It will find a place to sit and stay there.

Spooky accurate!  Damn near on par with my USP tac.  It sure makes some noise but the recoil is not punishing and it's very easy to shoot.  Makes for a phenomenal "plate gun".  It's also possible to tag targets at 100 yards on a fairly consistent basis.

Get it!!!  Who wouldn't want pocket artillery?

it seems that the G20 is the most accurate of the glocks? from what i've been reading, some of the 1911 guys in gun stores complain about glocks, as do the .38spl target wheelgun only crowd... but from the glock guys i'm hearing- . on another note... i had read somewhere else that the 10mm wasn't an effective manstopper... i dunno.... something about 15 rounds of 200gr's at over 1,000fps doesn't exactly sound like a walkin the f**kin' park!

Why?  The G20 is accurate enough w/o it.

and can you shoot it one handed?

Why would you want to?

To be honest my G21 is more accurate than both my G20's, but not by much, and my 10mm Glocks are my fave handguns all around. Learn to reload, so you can enjoy and afford to actually shoot it, ammo is getting ridiculous. If you want really good groups get a Jarvis barrel, they are only about 150 bucks.

hmm, i'm feeling more and more sold on the idea. all the pro's i know are recommending glocks. considering the amount of people using them, they're just so reliable. 15 rounds of 10mm, i mean ,thats hard to argue. but i'm still left with a few frustrating experiences with glocks- i went to a range, where i was renting out their guns. with a .357 i'm damn good. with a .44 i can dump the cylinder and keep them all on target at a fair distance. but my first experience was with a G19. my friend put a dollar bill on the target. 3 mags, i coudln't hit george washington, no matter how hard i tried. i'd rested the pistol, used the same shooting techiques that had worked with all other guns, and, i coudln't hit it? in 3x 15 round magazines, 15 yards. a friend of mine tried, he coudln't do it either.  i tried the auto ordinance 1911 they had (poorly maintained dirty, man it rattled, pulling the slide back felt anything but smooth). first shot. man was i confused.  the next time i went back to the same place and tried the G21, this was a generation 1. dirty has hell. (9 dollar cleaning fee to use it....wish they'd actually clean it.). at 25-30 yards, all hits from the mag hit the torso. all of them on rapid fire. i move the target close, go for a headshot, whole mag, nothin. o.O i guess the sights might not have been right for the cheap ammo that the place stocked. i have no doubt the glock is minute of tango accurate- but i'm looking more for a target pistol, and i felt confused? its why i've been asking around so much about glock accuracy. the platform is there, i'm wondering, if i lighted the trigger, that might be the difference for me. thanks for your help though so far guys,  atm, i'm thinking of a G20 or G21 with that ghost connector. it might just be that they don't seem to maintain their weapons, they stock cheap ammo, and they've probably been fired how many easily 10s of thousands of times- and i'm not all that used to glocks. but what i am sold on with glocks? it won't break. it will go bang when i pull the trigger. it will last a lifetime. the price. if i can get accurate with it, i am sold sold sold.
