Are Scherer mags for glocks any good.  I never have really seen non-factory magazines for any handgun besides 1911 be worth a crap.  But scherer makes extra extended high cap mags in 40, 357 sig, 10mm, and 45.  These would be great w/ a KelTech Carbine or a Mech Tech Carbine Conversion.  Can I hold out hope?

& By the way, are the Glock Factory 9mm high cap mags 33rd or something less?

I've had no luck with anything but factory mags

Got a 25 round mag for my 21 as a Christmas gift. Kinda cheesy. Had to replace the junk follower that came with it. By the time you load in the last round, it feels like it's going to explode! The only use I can see for it is as a range only fun mag.

Wish someone made a good 25 rounder. It would be perfect for the bathroom.

Factory Glock mags are worth the extra scratch.  Don't waste your money on anything else.

I wouldn't touch a Scherer. Ever again.

what exactly makes the mags shitty?  Are they non full metal lined?

ETA:  I found the 33 rd. mags for $13.99 and I was tempted to buy one to see how it worked.

I don't know why they are shitty, but I know they don't work. Once they didn't work I didn't bother to think about why.

As cheap as factory Glock mags are, there's no reason to buy Scherer.  Actually, even if Glock mags were $50 each, there'd still be no reason to be Scherer mags.  Crappy aftermarket mags are a sure way to make a Glock malfunction.

The Glock mag is a 31 rounder, but many (most?) come with the factory +2 baseplate installed.  It may be confusing, since there are only witness holes for 31 on the back of the mag body.

My 'cheap' 33 round scherer worked just fine, the couple of times I took it to the range with me.

Awhile ago some guy next to me at the range had a G21 with a Scherer 25 rounder. I wasn't paying that much attention but I didn't notice him having any failures. He was going through a healthy amount of ammo too.

That said, Glock factory mags take the cake.

I just wish Glock made a extra high capacity magazine in other than 9mm calibers.

So maybe, just maybe a guy might get lucky w/ one but probably not.  It would be so sweet to have a 10mm carbine or SBR w/ 20 + rounds.

Anyway, I have been through this w/ AR15 USA Mags and Pro Mags and I have balked at gun shows at how crappy aftermarket USP mags look and feel so my expectations are pretty low.

The TDI Kriss comes with a 17 round extension for the G21 mags. Might work okay...

I have the 20something round .40 mag and it worked fine when I let somebody else try it but I couldn't get through more than three or four shots before it would jam up.

I'll stick with the factory ones.

I have 3 of the 29 round .40 mags.  Once I replaced the springs with Wolff springs and the followers with OEM they worked fine.  For any serious use where you need maximum rounds per mag I suggest getting Taylor Freelance extensions and putting them on GLOCK OEM mags.  You can get a +8 for .40 (total 23 rounds) and a +4 for .45 or 10mm.

I've heard enough stories to convince me to stay with Glock factory mags.

For the price difference, it really doesn't make sense to me to do anything else.

I picked up a scherer 33 rd. 9mm mag today.  For $12.99 I couldn't pass it up.

It feeds fine when cycling by hand.  I'll see how it does on the range.

I can only get about 20 rounds into my 33 scherer mag.... any tips on how to get 30 into it?

Shove really really hard.

I could only get 29 in without a mag loader, and the last 5 rounds were a real PITA.  My thumb is very sore.  I loaded 20 in it to let it sit for a while in hopes of making it easier to load in the future.

Yes.  Unload the mag.  Place the ammo in a safe place.  Discard the Scherer mag into the garbage.  Buy a factory Glock mag.  Retrieve your ammo from the safe place.  Reload.

I wondered how long it would take for someone to say that.

I got one of those 30whatever rounders in .40 by scherer, it works perfect...but then I got some scherer's for the G19 & none of them worked at all.

I recently bought a couple of Scherer's +2 mag extensions for my 10mm, they actually seem sturdy and well made. The extra power mag springs are on the way so I'll have a range report soon. If this setup works, the G29 at 12+1 rounds will be an ideal little carry pistol. It's a shame Glock doesn't make anything for the 10mm/.45acp guns.

While still I maintain that Scherer Glock mags = crap, I use their +2 bases for my Glock G20/21L mags (21 only holds +1) and I can say that we work very well.  I did find that if I trimmed the vertical leg of the inset down about ⅛" that they loaded easier.  I've had them for a couple of years and run about 1,000rds of 10mm and 3,000rds of .45acp through 4 of each caliber without issues.  The mags are newer versions (about 3 yrs old) and the stock springs work just fine.

I have never bought a scherer magazine but i have seen several. From the looks of them they appear to be similar to the 2nd generation non-drop free glock magazines. I wouldnt buy one at any price.
