Well, I'm thinking of getting another Glock. Right now the only one I have is a G17C that I'm totally thrilled with. The 17/22 sized Glocks are the only ones I've owned.

I have shot a 19 in the past, and nothing about it really thrilled me. The top finger groove sits too high for me, so I'd be doing a grind job on the front strap.

So here's what I'm looking at:

Another 17C - stick with what works!

An OD 17 - to mix things up a bit.

A G19 - something different, *slightly* easier carry than the 17.

A G26 - could replace my PA63 as a pocket gun, though the "dangling pinky" bugs me - I figure if I'm gonna use 19 mags or extended floor plate I may as well carry a 19.

So what says you guys?

The 17 is a nice gun, so a standard 17 w/ a 3.5# trigger would be cool.

A 26 would be a good choice if you were going to CCW it often.

IMHO the G19 is the perfect Glock. My first Glock. Other Glocks have come since I got the 19, but I think it is still my favorite.

I'd suggest one of the ones in .45acp not .45GAP, but i'm a recoil retard. my relative's carrying, i believe its a glock 21- in iraq right now. no complaints from him.

A G19.  Its the best Glock IMO.  You could do one in OD just to mix things up a bit.  I love my OD Glock and they are getting hard to come by these days.

My big question is what does it offer over the 17? I can't see it carrying THAT much better (though I have only shot one, not carried one for a long period of time). I also have to consider that if I get the 19 I will have to modify the front strap.

The hole in the top of the slide looks like a great access port for crud while I'm out in the field. I worry about that even with the small ports on the C model, hence my interest in a standard 17.

love my 26.  Even with the dangling pinky it shoots like a bigger gun, I have always been amazed with its accuracy.

I have both a 17 and two G19s.  The G19 shoots just as good for me as the 17 and carrys much better IMO.  It will also take the 17rnd mags from the 17 so for me it does every thing a G17 can and more.  On the other hand the G17 will not carry as well and will not shrink into a nice size CCW.  So for me the G17 does not get as much use.  Now I'm from Florida where the smaller a handgun is the more of the year you can carry it.  My 2nd favorite Glock is a G21.  I have had mine for a long time and it was my first Glock.  Great shooting .45 but do not use it for a CCW.  The G17 is great and if I was going off to war or shooting 3 gun it would be my choice.  Its just for what I use a gun for everyday, the G19 fits the job better.

You could always look for a good deal on a 2nd Gen G19 and use a Houge slip-on.  Thats what I have on my 19 and it feel great.

I'm leery of the Hogue grips for a carry piece.

Besides, I owe my dealer a new gun sale - I've been using the hell out of their transfer service lately.

I found my G19 to be the most versitile handgun I could ever own.

- Full grip
- Holds 15+1 rounds (can stick 17 rd mags in it)
- Easily concealable
- Plenty accurate
- If you get a G26, almost every part from the G19 can go in the G26 including the barrel

It is the do-all of handguns.

I voted mags and ammo.  Even though I personally find the 19 to be the perfect combat pistol ever, if the 17 works for you, then stick with it!

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions thus far.

I'll definatley shoot a 19 again before I buy another Glock to give it a further evaluation. I knew they were popular, but am surprised at the overwhelming response.

For now I went with mags and ammo - I'm gonna wait on another piece until after tax time. That'll give me time to check out the 19 (and possibly 26 and 34) at the range in the meantime.

G19.  Believe me the difference between the G17 and G19 is noticable.  I can carry the G19 wearing shorts and a T-shirt in the summer when most would go with a pocket gun.

i'd tell you to just get the 19, but you already said you didn't like it.

the 26 is an awesome carry piece, a friend of mine who doesn't even like glocks bought one and has been impressed so far.

Ah. Well in that case, my 9x19 Winchester Ranger-T load has 22 more ft/lbs energy than a 230@905 (.45 ACP Winchester Ranger-T) load.

Why would you feel undergunned with 17+1 rounds  (G17) of quality 9x19 JHPs as opposed to 13+1 (G21) of .45ACP JHP?  I mean if you really wanna talk about energy the 18 rounds will roll the 14 rounds of .45 everytime.
I'd like to have the option of punching through barriers if I need to.  Give me a 9x19 and I'm fine.  Not anywhere as good as the .357SIG for pentration but it's a hellalot better than the .45ACP.

I don't do .40Short and Weak

Numbers are hard to refute:
Doubletap ammo ammo; I like 147gr stuff: 421ft.lbs. x 18 =  7578ft.lbs. total
For .45 230GHP: 521ft/lbs** x 14 =  7294ft.lbs. total

If you wanna talk about crazy from a 9mm 115gr: 511ft.lbs. x 18 = 9198ft lbs.

**the 521ft/lbs was out of a 5" 1911 barrel.  I'm going to assume that the polygonal rifling of the G21's 4.6" barrel is about equvalent to the 5" 1911 conventional rifled barrel.
