I never really "loved" the way they looked, but you cant deny how well they shoot.  So today I just picked up my first Glock, a G19.

So what should I do first:
-Laser?  (which one would yall recommend)
-Light?   (^  ^     ^        ^     )

Also what ammo are you running in them for HD or Carry?

Thanks!

As far as ammo, in my G19 I have Speer Gold Dot +P hollow points (124 gr., I think).

First you should be proud for joining the Dark Side. HAHAHAHA

Redo the plastic sights. And do a 25cent polish job.

Enjoy your rounds down range

A light such as a streamlight M3 is more useful than a laser in my opinion. Night sights are a must have for a carry weapon. Speer gold dots make great defensive loads. I have shot them for years in 9mm and 40. You will love Glocks and believe me they will multiply in your safe.

You Don't Need To Do A  25cent Polish Job, I Just Don't Get That One, Glocks Are Fine Like They Come From The Factory ..

Forget what you're thinking...

Here's what you do:

Night sights (I like the standard Glock tritium or Novak)
Mags (At least five, more the merrier)
Speer GD are good (I use 147gr)
Leave the trigger alone and just shoot it... It'll break in.
Buy a TRL-1 light for HD (Until then a Surefire G2 will work)
Forget the laser unless you have NVG, then it's fun!

And welcome to the dark side of the moon.

I'm thinking of picking up another G19 in a couple days.

congrats on a great HG

well, imo, the only things a factory glock needs for some serious use are steel, night sights (Trijicon, Warren Tactical, Heinies, Meps, XS, etc get my vote); a good, quality, secure holster suited for your desired uses; glock factory mags and quality ammo; practice and training

the rest is icing on the cake; a good durable weapons light does come in very handy, esp if your HG is a multipurpose/HD/nightstand gun (Streamlight TLR-1 for the price and quality, Surefire X200/300 also)

as to lasers...well, imo, they are just about a useless investment for any serious use, esp if one doesnt know how to implement em or use it as a substitute for actual trigger time

lasers can aid for close in shots, if the handler is incompassitated/other obstacle, low light/night; h/w, during lighted areas or of any distance shots, they are just about useless

using a laser as an intimidation tool, a substitution for proper sight alignment/trigger control and imo, the money could be better spent on something else (like a good weapons light)

i'd recommend just about any brand of quality, factory ammo for plinking; Speer Gold Dots, Winchester Ranger Ts, and Federal HSTs are my prefered carry ammo (147gr or 124/127gr +P JHP)
look here for more info on carry ammo:

.25cent glock trigger job if you want to help smooth out the trigger pull, but its not necessary

i have had not problem in my 9mm Glocks grouping any ammo 124gr and above. The polygonal rifling does not like the light stuff 114 gr. for some reason. Have been using federal hydro shocks lately because I ran out of Winchester silver tips. I can get good groups from the Wally world value packs. I do like an M3 on my g17/19. have am M6 it stays on the 21 because its already heavy. Think about having a lighter disconnecter kit installed for paper shooting.  Almost forgot if you have large hands the magazine extensions will help on the 19.

Hey, you asked for more advice!

First, have some night sights (Trijicon or Mepro light) installed.  Second, buy a light.  I chose the Glock light myself.  My G19 seems to like the Winchester Silver Tip 115 grain bullet the best.

Unless you get a DEAL on a M6 laser light combo, forget about the laser

Buy 7, g17 mags NOW.

Get 2, 33 rd Glock mags, and get the 123gr Gold dot ammo.

I got my first Glock after the AWB, it was many years before i ever seen my first standard capacity Glock magazine. Buy mags. Then buy some more.

Practice ammo, Winchester white box, Blazer Brass.

Defense, 147 gr. Federal HSTs, Winchester Ranger Ts, Speer Gold Dots. Gold Dots are readily available, the other two are not. ammunitiontogo.com/ has them all.
