I am considering buying either a 22 or 23.  I haven't handled them yet but would like to hear from others with experience.
Opinion on handeling?  Any difference in reliability?  Anybody know what velocity difference the 1/2" of barrel makes?
I would probably stick with a 180 gr bullet.

I own both, the 22 is a relatively new addition.  There seems to be slightly less of a muzzle flip tendency with the 22, but I really don't think it is that much of a difference.  The extra length of the grip on the 22 makes it slightly more difficult to conceal, for me any ways.  I don't know if this is a concern of yours or not.  Both have been 100% reliable and I also tend to shoot 180 grains.  There is additional velocity out of the 22, but I do not know off hand exactly what it is.  The extra 2 rounds for flushfitting mags is nice also.  Go and see what you like best.  Both will be fine pistols.  My personal favorite of the two is the 23, but that is just me.  I am also biased because the 23 was my first pistol.  It just feels right.  Happy shopping.

I ahve both. the 23 will do everything the 22 will do but with 2 less rounds. But the shorter length ofthe slide and butt make a lot of diffferece in the concealed mode.

my opinion is get the 23, I trust my life to mine.

i carry a 22 on duty and a 23 off duty. they're both great guns. i would personally go with the 23 off duty because of the size. it's a little too hard to conceal the 22 unless you're a bigger guy.

full size, for non-CCW, get the G22

for possible CCW, yet still large enough for duty, AND can use both mags, G23

my choice would be the G23; if you want a full length, i'd consider the G35

1/2'' bbl wont make any real diff in vel effectiveness, but will travel a tad slower (~25-35fps at most, depending on the load; avg is ~4% less at most)
