While shooting today, the trigger pin on my G17 started walking out of the right side of the frame. After returning home, I looked things over and saw nothing unusual and I was able to return the pin to it's normal position flush with the frame by pushing it to the left with a drift punch. It now seems to be snug in the frame. Anyone have a idea as to why this would happen? |
I'll have a look...it seems really wierd that this suddenly happened after several years of shooting.

The pin might be bent thus causing the problem. Make sure the mag is removed and the gun is empty. Remove the slide, then the Locking Block pin('02 and newer receivers), wiggle the trigger pin, at the same time pushing it from left to right(laying the receiver on a roll of duct tape works great). Roll the pin on something you know is flat(I use a small mirror). If it's not bent check that the slide stop lever is not bent or that it has a weak/bent spring. Now if you have ever used a mallet or hammer to drive out the pins then you will need to replace several parts. Hope this helps |
I'm curious how this is A) possibly related to lubrication and B) actually pretty common. The trigger pin has two grooves in it, expressly designed to capture the slide stop (under spring pressure) no matter which end of the pin is inserted first. I would very much like to know how lubrication has an impact on this design and what makes it common? What I do know to be "common" is the incorrect assembly of the slide stop and the frame pins. Which has nothing to do with lubrication. G |
+1 I have seven Glocks and have never seen it, and I run most of my guns wet with oil. BS, man. |
