help me pick which model for ccw. 26 , 30 or 36?

19

edit 20 is pretty big, I almost never carry my 21. 36 is about the size of a 19 and great size to carry, not a ton of fun to shoot for extended periods. I don't know about 30, I think it might be kind of wide for iwb

y not the 26?

You didn't ask about the 26

I think the 19 is a good compromise of small enough to conceal, big enough to shoot like a full size pistol-however a buddy of mine carries a 26 and loves it. I think it would help if you could try some out

my friend carries a 26 in the summer... it is really small and very easy to conceal... then again i've carried a 17 IWB in a pair of mesh shorts and a tshirt with no problems...

the compact frame (G19/G23/G32) gives you a good sight radius/barrel length, is easy to conceal, has a decent capacity, and is easy to shoot over a long period of time.

the subcompact frame (G26/G27) always felt to small in my hand and it wasn't as accurate as the compact frame, your capacity suffers (9mm: 10rds vs 15rds), and concealibility is just as easy as the larger size (6.29"L 4.17"H vs 6.85"L 5.00"H)...

I carry G30 everyday IWB (right front). Keep it loaded w/Corbin +P JHP's
I weigh 185ish, wear shorts and T shirts most of the time.
Also carry a G21 w/+1 ext in Left Front pocket to help "balance" everything out...

25 rounds of .45 JHP +P's lends a good feeling of "comfortable" IMHO.

its more along the size of the G30; has 50% more ammo than the G26, in most cases, just as concealable

'nother vote for the G19.

Oh, put a Big-dot on it and carry it in a CTAC, too.

I'm joining the G19 crowd.  Get a Comp-Tac holster of your choosing to go with it, and you're good to go.

There really is not a bad answer.

I prefer the 19 sized guns, but have CCW'd a sub-compact many times(26 & 27).  I have also carried a few 30's over the years.

Right now it is the 19 or a S&W 340PD, but it could become the upcoming 30SF in time.

the 26 is hard to beat

the 30 is great as well if it will fit your hands.

not a big fan of the 36, but it's not a bad gun either. just wasn't for me.

Glcoks carry a little better than their coutnerparts, no?  Due to their thinner frames?

I always felt that my buddy's 23 felt better on my back than my P228 did.

Thinner?  Maybe.  The slide on the Glock is blockier than the P228

Lighter?  Definitely

I like my Glock 19 much better than the P228 that I had for a while.  Everything on the 19 just fits me better than the 228 did.

Another G19 carrier here.

(12+ years as my primary CCW {about half my total licensed carry time} and no interest at all in changing. )

I carry the G36.

Any of those options would be fine... Just choose the one that fits your hand the best.

9mm vs .45ACP is more of a personal choice than anything else.

I don't want to side-track this thread too much but I keep seeing the CTAC holster suggested, what about it is so great?

The G26, 27 and, 33 are all great little guns and, if you NEED something that small, I don't think there is anything better.  The only problem that I have with them is, that like many other small pistols, they are not all that much fun to shoot.  They just don't feel right in the hand.  Don't get me wrong, I have shot all 3 and they are controllable but still not fun. The full size guns like the 22 and the 17 have never felt good in my hand either.  The 19, 23 and, the 32 on the other hand felt JUST RIGHT.  Man, this sounds kinda like Garret and the 3 Glocks. Anyway, If you like the 9mm then the 19 would be my suggestion but I prefer the 40 S&W and 357 Sig and therefore own 2 23s and a 32.  I will probaly end up with one of the subcompacts sooner or later, probably the 27, just because.  I also now own a 21 which I picked up CHEAP and, to my surprise, I don't hate the feel of that one though I still prefer the midsize guns. To my way of thinking, if you can conceal a 26 especially on your waist, you can conceal a 19.

26, if you want a 45 go with the 36. If your ok with the 36 size and ok with 9mm go with the 19. The 26 will hide better out of all of them though

All of us who carry have a box of holsters that we've bought, tried desperately to wear comfortably, and rejected for various reasons.  After trying the CTAC, I started to sell the stuff in my holster box.

Although I'm not a fan of Kydex, the stuff from CompTac is so thin, that you might as well be carrying "Mexican".  In other words, it's as comfortable as you can get shoving 3/4 of a pound of metal in your pants.

It conceals incredibly well, covers the trigger guard, is tuckable, and stays put on your belt.  It isn't purty like a Sparks or DelFatti or even a Galco, but the holster is nothing more than a tool holder.  The whole concept of no-frills utility kind of goes together perfectly with the idea of carrying a Glock.

In short, the CTAC just works for the majority of folks who try them (just like G19's ).

+ 1 for the G-19 It is my Daily CCW, I carried a G-30 for about a year in a CTAC and it worked fine a little harder to conceal at least for me, and then I decided to get a CTAC for my G-19 and it seems to be the one I carry most of the time now.

I carry my G34, IWB.  I use a Raven Concealment Systems holster, which is the best concealment holster that I have owned.  No problem with a tee shirt and jeans.
