I personally have and love the 9mm series of Glocks. 34 and 26 are my favorite DA only firearm. I had the chance to shoot a TRUE G18 this weekend, thanks to a particular person that get them issued as a duty weapon.

Don't know what tactical/practical purpose they serve, but having said that, I did get to shoot one back in '94 at "The Farm" gun range MG shoot in Hot Springs AR. It sure was fun, and a bit of a handful. My right hand on the grip and my left on the 33rd stick enabled me to roll that old propane cylinder around quite nicely!

ETA: flame on about "tactical/practical" comment.
