I am thinking about getting a Glock in 40 S&W.   Is there a spacer available for using the full size mags in the smaller guns?

Yes,
You can buy spacers for 13round (G23) and 15round(G22) magazines to fill the space when used on a G27.

Any Glock parts vendor will have them (A&G grip extensions) Lonewolf, Glockparts.com,etc. (They "are not" factory Glock items)

One thing that should be mentioned about spacers. Magazines with spacers may not fit in some magazine sheaths. I don't know if this matters to you, just thaught I would bring it to your attention.

Wow.  I never know about these things.  I liked my G27 but liked my G23 more so I traded off the G27.  I've been looking at a G26 but I fear she would just sit in the safe.  This could tip the scales for me.  Thanks for posting this fellas.

Of course, spacers are not necessary.

I actually prefer running G19 mags in a G26 without the spacers.

I am issued a 23 and carry a 27 as a second. I just run plain 23 magazines in the 27 with no issues. The cost of the spacer is almost as much as another magazine.

I have also run my 19 with 17 magazines in it with no issues and no spacers.

The spacers, besides improving the grip, also prevent fore-and-aft movement of the mag.  There have been lots of reports on various forums about failures-to-feed, when the shooter rocked the mag in the mag well.

I use backup mags with and without the A&G sleeves.  So far, no failures, either way, but I sure do prefer the feel of the mag with the spacer.

One thing to keep in mind if you do buy some of those.  Those A&G sleeves are retained by a set screw.  Make sure you don't overtighten it, or you are going to bend the metal liner of your Glock magazine, ruining it.
