I have a question for yall.  I am a 1911 guy, but I get kind of tired of lugging the damn 5" railed Kimber Warrior around during the summer months when I am CCing.  I have been looking at a G30 for a CCW pistol and was wondering what the deal is with them.  I held my friends the other day and the Grip angle isnt as bad as I remember it to be.  What is the capacity on these, Are these the really damn small ones? because that is what I want.  How do yall like them?  I am looking for one when I get back from Japan in March of next year.  Educate me please.

the G30 is the double stacked .45acp--its kinda "fat" on the grip (noticibly more so than a 1911); its 10+1

if you want the slimness of a 1911, i'd look into the G36--slimline .45acp, 6+1 and you can get a +1 extention

recent topic on the G30

i prefer the G30 myself--almost twice the capacity as the G36, while its fat, its good for my hand and carry; and it can use the double stacked G21 mags; smooth recoling and pretty accurate

this may help to get dimentions of each

one thing that no glock can compare to, esp to a 1911, is the trigger...glock triggers can be troublesome to new folks to em, so some practice might be needed w/ em

So is there trigger mods I can do?  I always hear about people with "trigger work" done, but I dont know what it means.  How much am I looking at spending for the gun?

Thanks,

Pat

there is the glock .25cent trigger job, which does help w/ smoothing out the trigger (or a few thousand rnds would do the same)

reset on stock glocks are pretty short; but, you can have the pull dropped from the std. 5.5 lb to a 3.5 or 4.5 lb disconnect (ghost, glock, etc) offered--these replacement disconnects cost ~$20, installation is a snap

there are some custom smiths who can do other work (including dropping weight to a few ounces!)...but, for most of us, a stock 5.5 is just fine; some do prefer the 3.5's lighter pull (i had one on my carry glock, but tossed it, went back to stock)

both glock models are usually ~$500-$550 NIB, depending on the place

Get the M30, I just got one at the local gun show on trade and It is one of my better Glocks, I am still confused on why my 30 has a light rail and my brother in laws does not, he does have a 3rd gen,
