I want to install a new Ameriglo front sight on my circa 1996 G19. The old sight is a Trijicon. It is not held in place with a screw. There appears to be an oval shaped cap with 2 indentations pressed into the bottom of the sight. I cant quite figure out how to remove the old sight.

You can either drive it out from the bottom with a punch or rip it out from the top, using a pair of pliers.

Those two indentations are how it is staked in.  Take a punch and put it right in between them and it should pop right out.
