| Sweet and simple, who's got a lasermax for their glock 19? Do you like it? is it worth the money? My buddy got a light/laser combo for his "house gun", now Im itchin for a laser on my glock 19 CCW. |

Spend the money on training and ammo. I've had one for years, and although they are cool and help with dry practice, I acutally think the laser interferes with finding a fast sight picture at the range. I would rather use irons. Now - as for the lasers practical purpose, I like the idea of being able to hit my target without using the sights if need be in a stressful situation. My lasermax is very accurate. |

I've got lasermax in BOTH my G19 and G30. Both of these I purchased for "carry guns". The value of the laser (to me) is to have an additional aiming device, other than my night sights, for stressful situations. A LASER IS ONLY INTENDED AS AN AIMING SUPPLEMENT, AND NEVER REPLACES IRON SIGHTS AND PLENTY OF RANGE TIME!! In addition, the badguy CAN see the laser emitting from the lens below the barrel! This is a BIG intimidation factor, and SHOULD make him think twice. If it doesn't, he's gonna die anyhow, right? If something should ever happen and you DO have to shoot, it will look good to the DA and/or Grand Jury if you have a laser. It makes you look more responsible, in that you have done everything possible to ensure that you WILL hit your intended target, and NOT hit bystanders or cause collateral damage. (It goes without saying that you MUST TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN!!!!) These points are debatable, but HAVE played important roles in "real-life" self-defense articles in reputable periodicals that I subscribe to, and, they make sense (to me). As far as my "home gun", I have a G21 equipped with a Glock light/laser combo sitting on the nightstand. On the other side of the 'stand, I have a pistol and fore gripped 18" Rem 870 tactical (6+1 w/ 6 shot sidesaddle) with a Xenon light (w/pressure switch on fore grip) for proper illumination of any would-be evildoers. God bless their souls.... |

I have Lasermax units in 2 of my G19s (as well as a G17, a G21, and a SIG P226) and I absolutely love them. None of them have given me any problems and the oldest of them, the one in my primary CCW, has been in use for almost ten years. As has already been pointed out, they are no substitute for proper training, practice, and fundamental shooting techniques... but they can be a useful supplement to those in some circumstances. They are a wonderful training tool (most will agree on at least that) and they have more real-world applications than the knee-jerk detractors (there are many such here on this site) would ever admit. As long as one doesn't rely on them as his primary sighting option (a big mistake, IMO), they are just one more tool in the tool-box, no more, no less. |

I mounted a Lasermax in my duty G17 when I was a DA Investigator. They are nifty little add-ons, but in a shooting situation, they are exceptionally difficult to instinctively engage. You will find yourself hardly ever turning it on unless you are having the cat chase the dot in the living room floor (I plead the 5th to this). In some situations where you can turn it on, I can see how it might intimidate someone - but since most LEO shootings happen within 3m of the suspect - you really don't have time to put it to use. On a carry weapon, I would suggest that you stick with only night sights. However, if the weapon is intended for home defense, I would go ahead and get a TLR-2 and save some money for a better product. |
