Just got my first glock 19. People say you should change this and that to make it more solid.
Whats the list of upgrades people recommend to a newbie?
So far...
1 change plastic guide rod to steel guide rod 2 some sorta spring upgrade?
Any other suggestions are helpful and links to recommended products would be better. Yes I am the type of person that needs to upgrade everything and make it better then it already is

Take it to the range and put a few hundred rounds thru it first.
Then ya might want to drop a 3.5# trigger in it and some nite sights.
No need for solid recoil guide rod or other junk.

Ammo Training Night Sights
That is all a new Glock needs , they really don't need night sights, that is really up to you..

Where can I get a 3.5lb trigger to put on it? I bought it used with a 1000rds down it, trigger feels decently smooth and broken in.

1) Ammo 2) Training 3) Lots of practice!
Repeat #1 and #3 often.

eggzactry.
I'll add a high quality holster. If you carry, that is where a lot of your budget should go.

No real need to change much...it is a good solid gun. After you shoot it for a while you may find some things to change but I have shot mine for a while and see no need to change anything.
But...triggers and sights are the biggest things that people change.

the only thing I swtched on all my glocks was the sights. I have a couple models with steel and tungsten guide rods and I see and feel absolutely no difference over the plastic rods

Maybe a Hogue grip...and oh yeah, that little butt plug for the grip, that dresses it up nice.

After the mags, ammo, and practice routine, your next step will be a threaded barrel and silencer

thanks for the replies guys!!! I've got 4 mags, and 2 33rd mags(shits and giggles), and just reloaded some FMJ's to shoot since I know I cannot use lead bullets...

More mags! Night sights are good to have. I wouldn't replace any parts.
