| Found one of these (model 20) used in mint condition and it came home with me today. Any issues with reliability? Do they tend to prefer the lighter or heavier bullets? What kind of accuracy can I expect with full power loads at 25yds? Are the after market barrels worth the investment? Thanks in advance. |
| Thanks for the replies. I ran 100rd of HMS 180 FMJs through it. It ran fine--although is shooting badly to the right. 3''+ at 10yds. I've odered an adjustable sight. Shooting steel canisters at 25yds, I was gratified to see how much harder the 10mm rocked them than hardball out of a 45acp--and my guess is the HMS ammo is not particulary fast--it seemed like it was hitting modestly harder than 180s out my 40S&W. If you were to spend the $ on a drop in barrel, whose would you buy? Although I need to shoot some different ammo through it first, the 5" groups at 25yds do not excite me. Any thoughts? I'm a complete noob when it comes to mods to a Glock. |
If the rear sight is centered on the slide, then your shooting to the right is something you're doing. I'd also say fire a couple of thousand rounds through it, in order to reduce group size. I use 3.5#aftermarket connectors in my Glocks...helps my groups. |
| Part of it might be me, but not all. I can shoot considerably better groups with several different handguns in the same setting. Comparing a clock trigger to a 1911 or event a double action python is unfair--I do think with a few thousand rounds I'll get used to it. I've got the 3.5 trigger in a model 35--it does seem a little better, but not as much as I'd expect. I figure I need to try some different ammo through it. Its not uncommon to find guns that really don't shoot well with some ammo but shoot great with others. Can anyone make a recomendation for aftermarket adjustible target sights? I know I'll shoot better with a narrower front sight--just use to them. |
| I agree that full power loads are what the 10mm is about--I already own/shoot a 40S&W. Out of my G35 40s&W, goldot 180 factory loads chrono 1100+fps. I've got no interest in essentially duplicating this load with a mildly loaded 10mm. A buddy and I just went in on a thousand rounds of double tap loads (180/165 golddots). So, I've pretty much taken the plunge. The 135 jhps will have to wait a year or two! It will be interesting to compare my buddys' Kimber with the G20 this next year. |
Run yourself a nice warm bubble bath, pour a glass of white wine, light up a Virginia Slim, put some Elton John on the CD player and try to forget about the pain in your hands from those big boy bullets! |

You can get a 6" hunting barrel from www.lonewolfdist.com for less than $100. Very well made barrel, it's really a must if you reload and want to shoot cheap lead bullets through it. I have had some jamming issues with this LW barrel using lead bullets. But still is fine for plinking. The LW barrel is a very tight fit to the slide and the chamber is much tighter than the factory Glock barrel. With +2 extensions and one in the pipe I have 18 rounds of hotter than .357magnum power in my hands, doesn't get much better than the G20! |
