Picked up the Homeland Defender last night. I knew I wanted a G19 with night sights, and the HLD caught my eye, priced at $689. At first I didn't think that was a great deal, when you figure the gun with night sights is $575, plus a light for about $110. I wasn't really thinking I needed a weapon light. What sold me was the extended slide stop and mag release, factory-installed, and the two extra mags. That takes the value up about another hundred dollars, including installation (I am not an armorer), and gives me something a little different. I like those two features a lot, now.

I put the light on my girlfriend's G19 "house gun," and it makes for a nice home defense setup.

All in all, a pretty cool package from Glock!

I think you have it backwards. $575 for a G19 with NS and $110 for the Glock light is the appropriate value. The extended slide stop, mag release and two extra mags is only worth about $35.

But, you still did great and congrats on your new purchase!

Glad you like the G19 "special".  That's probably something a particular distributor is doing.  You don't need to be an armorer to install a mag release and slide stop lever.  A monkey could be trained to replace any part on a Glock in just a few minutes.

I got a G19 HLD a couple months ago. I've lost count of rounds, but prob in neighborhood of 1200 rounds, not a single issue! Congrats!

That's what they were selling for around here $689-$699 +tax. I got a little bit of a deal on mine, ImpactGuns.com had a sale for $603, so it was about $640 OTD after shipping and FFL transfer, but they've raised the price since then.

I've been shooting IDPA with it, teaching the wife to shoot it, as well as she and I both took our CWP class with it, and it's been a great gun so far. I also bought a couple 31rd mags for it, and I've started to get a couple holsters for it.

I also took a dowel and some sand paper and made the area for the middle finger bigger to suit my hand perfectly, and slapped a hogue grip on it.

Have fun with yours!

To CJ and GlockSlap

I've posted pics on mine on here before, but AR15 won't let me search that far back, even though I'm subscribed to the thread and started the thread. I've also explained the whole relationship and naming thing before...

Anyway, you can see my pics here: thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=258255

On post 11 on that thread over there, I detailed out some stuff about where I bought it, and where it came from...

Do they offer other models?
I'm not sure what all it comes in, but I did see a .40 cal Glock 23 in the HomeLand Defender package at the gun show this weekend for $650, I see Impact has it HERE for $649. I chose the 9MM for a few reasons, I want to shoot it a lot and ammo is cheaper, I've been told my wife will take to the 9MM easier than the larger caliber, etc.

Is it Glock or some aftermarket company putting the package together?
It's a distributor working with Glock. I was in the market for a Glock 19, when I ran across this version of it that comes w/ NS, extra mags, extended controls, and a tactical light, and it's called a HomeLand Defender (warning pdf file, lists current options) package, put together by a distributor Ellet Brothers (website) and future site for the brand HomeLand Defender They're marketing a line of shotguns (Mossberg), Pistols (Glock), and Revolvers (S&W?), as wel as some other gear, under the brand homeland defender.

So, you see it's a whole brand of defense firearms, from shotguns to pistols etc., including other mfgs besides Glock...
