| Never owned a Glock before, and truth be told I've never been crazy for them. I wanted a compact 9mm, and the only one on the market that I would reasonably trust was the G26, so I picked one up. I know nothing about it aside from basic operations, so please educate me! |
+1, esp on the night/steel sights what do you want to know? check out: www.glockfaq.com and other sites for more info (glock talk is another) |

Meprolight night sights only for me. IMO, if you're going to use grip extensions may as well carry the G19. The shorter grip on the G26 is what makes it that much more concealable. Practice with it, both drawing and firing. It is a little different than a full size gun due to the truncated grip. After a few hundered rounds you should be pretty proficient with it though. I have 2 G26's and nary a malfunction out of either with all types of ammo. Congratulations! |

If you don't mind telling, how much did you pay? The local places here want $520 for a NIB 26. I have been looking for one used for less, but I'm not ready to buy yet. I found these useful www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGUKuD7VXGg www.sniperworld.com/glock/ |
I would add an extended slide release, and you have the PERFECT CCW 9mm. Some would argue there are better handguns for CCW... but the above set up is the best 9mm rig you can carry, in my very experienced and very biased opinion!

Only thing I would add is a 33rnd mag....... |
If you aren't careful how you pack that thing, you are going to become very popular with teh ladies

I conur. I have one as well and you will find it to be accurate and very shootable. I've found that the grip extentions are nice, but I seem to be able to shoot mine just fine without them. If you get the plain Pearce extention, you can still cram an extra round in there, even though its advertised as a no +. Or you can get +2 extentions as well. |

A good holster and good belt are vital. As to grip extensions, if you are carrying concealed on your hip they don't really add any printing, as it is the back bottom corner of the grip that is the problem, not the front bottom corner. The extensions (most) are wedge shaped, adding little or nothing to the offending corner. If you are pocket carrying they do make it tougher to conceal. Carry G19 or G17 spare mags. G26 spares don't make a lot of sense. Learn to stack the trigger. Take all the slack out before you shoot. Once you shoot, only let the trigger come faorward enough to reset, not all the way forward. |
Be careful about putting your finger on the trigger before you have decided to shoot! That is how accidental discharges happen in stressful situations. IF you dedicate yourself to training in this technique, cool. But don't just do it because you read it online. Regarding trigger reset, I have been trained to completely remove my finger from the front of the trigger, and then put it back on. This ensures the trigger travels far enough to reset. Again, under stress of a deadly force situation, you are going to lose fine motor skills and shouldn't risk jamming your gun because you are trying to finese it. That is, again, unless you dedicate yourself to training with this technique.

yeah I don't like that but it just teaches you to check 3 times to make sure its unloaded.
