I just bought a G17 a while back, love it.  But I have a buddy looking at picking up a glock for home defense and at a sportsman's warehouse out by me there is a Homeland Defender model.  But I noticed it doesn't have the have moon cut out at the bottom of the finger grooves.  Why is only this model this way, are there other models that are this way?  Can I get this type of reciever for my G17?

It should shoot the same...

Why are you interested in switching out the frame?  Yours should be just fine with the notch or without.

it was just a thought about it, not a big concern.

but I was at streichers today and almost all of their glocks did not have the half moon cut out...is this a newer model?  like a gen 3.5 or something?

I think you were looking at the G19/23/32/38 size receivers?

hmmm, come to think of it...I didn't look at any 17s or 22s...so the 17s and 22s don't come like this at all?  only like 19s and 23s?  cool, did not know.

cuz yeah, they had a gen 3 37 and it had the half moon...

ok, i'm just dumb and didn't realize that they were the smaller models

are you refering to the cut out to help w/ pulling out (stuck) mags?

all the full sizes i have seen of the small bores have the cutout (if i remember right)--my G21 doesnt

my old G19 does also, but the new ones dont

yeah, that's the cutout I was referring to.  I assumed it was for helping pull mags out, but wasn't sure.  OK, but yeah, that all makes sense though...thanks guys.
