I am looking in to buying some preban G19 mags as back up for my G26. Do you guys have any recomendations as to what to look for and what to avoid? I am specifically wondering about the longevity of the magazines, and the drop free verse non-drop free. Also, what kind of prices should I expect? I found one mag that has a very small crack between two of the number holes and is priced only at 53 dollars. It is non drop free and apparently unaffected by the minor crack. Should I avoid this or is it a deal. I am lookign to use this pistol and this mag for carry. |

Ummm.... a small crack down the middle between the numbers, eh? Is it a crack or a grind mark? A grind mark about the size of the letters "LE/GOV'T USE ONLY" perhaps? $53 for a pre-ban G19 magazine sounds way too good to be true (and thus, it probably is). Keep an eye on the Equipment Exchange here and over at GlockTalk until you get an idea on what a fair price is. For an explanation on FML/NFML differences(or drop-free/non-drop-free as some insist on calling it) do a little reading over at glockmeister.com |

$ 53 is not an amazing deal for a nondrop free Glock 19 mag. Here you go-$ 60 w/ a +2 and no cracks If you are just looking for a high cap back up mag, like for a reload, I would look at a Glock 17 magazine. They are MUCH easier to find and cheaper. CDNN has them, for example. I use drop frees in my Glocks for carry magazines-but is it really worth worrying about? I'm not sure. If it's your 26 then presumably you have fired the 10 rounder in it and run through another 17 rounds in your backup magazine-Hopefully you have found some cover for your third reload by this time |

Not a good deal if they are cracked. IF I am not mistaken Glock will replace the mag body for a small fee I think I remember something about 20 bucks not sure though. As Aimless suggested check out Ivanhoes. Mags should last quite a long time if they are not abused ie stepping on them and things of that nature. The diffrence between Drop free and Non Drop free is the drop free is fully lined with metal and has what looks like a square U in at the top of the mag. The non drop free has what looks like a U at the top of the mag. Look here for a picture of the diffrences in the mags. glockmeister.com/3genmags.shtml |

I think I have TWO Glock 17 mags that tried to play connect the dots. Both are NFML NDF mags... They still work fine and I have had these mags since my G-17 was new pre'94. It would be nice to get them fixed however, just to make sure they don't get any worse! ---------------------------------------------- Edited to say I called Glock.... They said it would cost $25/mag for them to replace the mag body of my two mags. The body they would use is a USED BODY as they do not have new bodies that can be used... Following is Glock's contact info in the USA
I am not sure it's worth $25/ea to do this... my mags still function at this point...? I assume others have had connect the dot glock mags... do they ever stop working? Mine have been like this for years and I never bothered to worry and I do have a couple FML G17 HI-CAPS if I am really woried about function. The only problem I have is that the mags don't drop out when empty and the mag release is pressed like a normal NDF mag will... |
