I have a 22 now and got a 9mm barrel for it and love it (till I can get a 17) and am wanting to do the same in the smaller platform so my ? is would it be better to get a 19 and 40 conversion barrel or a 23 and a 9mm conversion barrel?

you cant put a 40 cal conversion into a 9mm glock but you can put a 9mm conversion into a 40cal glock so i would go with the 23 and if you wanted grab the 9mm conversion make sure its a "coversion" barrel though because if you just get a factory 9mm glock barrel it tends to have a little space to move around in the slide.

Get both duh.

I like the 9mm round over the 40, so the 19 would be my first choice.

oh yeah and i forgot to mention if you wanted to you can get a 357.sig conversion for your g23 or g22.. just another thought but the 9mm conversions are great especially if you dont reload it saves alot of cash and you can drop in the 40. barrel and have yourself a nice personal defense round.

My G23 is set up as a G19 with a Lonewolf 9MM conversion barrel. No problems and it rocks. I have yet to shoot any 40teh out of it yet.

If I were in your shoes, I would get a G27. I just think getting the G23 and when you already have a G22 is a little redundant as they are for the most part very similar.
A G27 would make a BETTER compliment IMO to your G22 than a G23 would. You'd have both ends of the spectrum covered as far as full size and ultra compact and your G22 mags would be backward compatable. You would still have the same 9mm conversion options as well.

OK, I'll throw in another thought.  Sounds like you like the 40s&w's performance but need the economy of the 9mm.  Before you spend much on alternate weapons to reduce your ammo costs, you could look at reloading your 40s&w instead.

Yes, I know that components have been going up in price but so has ammo.  I reload 40s&w, 45acp, 10mm, 30Carb, and .223 and by buying components in bulk when I find a good deal, I've been able to reload for 1/3 the cost of bargain level ammo.

Yes, there are front end costs for reloading equipment and the time it takes, but hey.  If you had soooooo many important things to do you wouldn't be waisting your time in front of the computer now would you?

Like most, I started reloading to save money, but I've gradually shifted over to really enjoying reloading as a sport in itself.  Besides, it really satisfies my 'cheap' button when I find a great deal on components.

Here is my reloading setup.  By my records, 79,000rds of ammo produced in the last few years resulted in a savings (minus the entire cost of my whole reloading setup shown) of over $10,000 in ammo costs!!!

Thats right, I paid for my components and all the reloading stuff you see here and still saved over $10 grand over the cost of medium quality ammo.  And, when you are tired of firearms you can sell your equipment.  I moved up recently from a Dillon RL550B to my XL650 and I sold my 550 on the internet in 2 minutes for 80% of the current price of a new one.  As I had my press over 4 years, the price increases meant that I sold it for what I paid for it new!

Some of that money went to build my G20 Longslide "Limited":

And my favorite long gun, my RRA Elite CAR A4:

Went out to get the G23 and did not like the grip it felt to compacted to me so I ended up getting a G17 thanks for all the input though.

ETA: I now have a G22 9mm conversion barrel for sale in the EE
