There is no such thing right? the 22 came out in 90, and glock added the serrations to the grip in 88, so basicly, there is no 22 that does not have at least the serrations to the front and back straps right?

I saw in the other thread that you are supposed to be getting a 1st generation G22.  There is only a couple of ways to explain this, as far as I know.

One would be that someone has put a G22 slide on a 1st generation G17 frame.  This can easily be seen by checking the serial numbers of the slide, barrel, and frame to see if they match.  I believe shooting a G22 in this configuration is a bad idea and would most likely lead to frame cracking.

Another possibility is the person is claiming that it is first generation, as it pertains to the G22.  For example, although Glocks were on their second generation when the G22 was introduced, it would still be the 1st generation for the G22 itself.

I bought this G22 new in 94 (ish). Its all original except the sights and disconnect. Notice the grip. I'd call it a Gen 1, but technically it may be a Gen 2 if all models are taken into account.

That is a Gen 2 G22. There were no gen 1's short of some prototype perhaps.

Let me qlarify a bit, in the original platform, the G17 there was a stipiling around the entire grip on the gen 2 Glocks the front of the grip was checkered as well as the trigger pins (for take down) being changed. There may have been some other small changes, but off the top of my head thats all I recall.

Gen 1 G22's do not exist on the market.

(Good post)

The other thing it will do if it does not crack the receiver first, is it will pull the locking block out of the receiver because it does not have a locking block pin. Glock had that problem during testing of the first G22s.

Well, looks like I wont be getting it. I was supposed to be buying it from a friend, he was taking it on as a partial trade and then was going to sell it to me.

The guy backed out so now I am looking at a BNIB 22 at a local shop, it was not a 22 on a 17 frame, it looks just like the second one from the top in the pics that were posted.

Now, I am trying to decide between .40 and .45, I already have a 1911 in .45 but I am considering trading it towards the 22 or the 21.

The 21 is $50 more, it may come down to how much extra money I can come up with!

Thanks everyone for responding

I find the 21 a tad big for my hands to shoot comfortably.  However the recoil feels a littler stiffer with the .40 oddly enough.  Just a little too large for my hands, that's what my Kimbers are for I guess.  Love my 22's, 23, 19 and 27 though.  YMMV.

I ended up getting a BNIB 22 $549 with 2 15rd mags. Have not shot it yet though.
