Have a friend that has a G22 and she wants night sights on it (which means I'll be putting them on) How's the front sight work? It looks like I need a tool to do it, from the quick look I gave it it doesn't look like it's just staked on. Thanks guys |
| If it still has the factory sights, the front sight is NOT held on by any nut. Neither are the new night sights (they use a small machine screw with a very thin head on the front). Just grasp the existing front sight (if factory) with needlenose pliers and twist/pull it off (easy as pie). Get a sight pusher and push the rear out of the dovetail. Reinstall with nutdriver, special Glock tool, for the front, and a sight pusher for the rear. |

thanks guys. I wish I still hhad my sight pusher, but I've done more than not with a soft brass driftpunch than with the tool, the replacement sights aren't plastic so all I have to do is use hoppes and rub off the brass on the rear sight Thanks guys P.S. why the hell do they use plastic sights?? |

Some of the night sights, like Trijicon, Meprolight & older Glock front sights has a nut to hold them on--a little LocTite and a nut driver was all that's needed. Glock changed their current factory night sights so the need to be installed with this gizmo rather than nuts: www.lonewolfdist.com/stockdetail.asp?item=GLO-ST3057 It's the same gizmo that installs the regular plastic front sight. I'd recommend Trijicons, just 'cause I wouldn't want to buy this gizmo & I already have the regualr nut driver front sight tool. Hope this helps. |
