Hey Guys, I am looking for a birthday gift for my dad and I figured a mod for his Glock 19 would be nice. I am asking the ARFCOM community for any suggestions for mods and what online retailers I could buy from. Thanks. |

You need to understand that Glock USA replaces the sights when the Glocks are imported. More than one person, including myself, have blown off the sights with factory ammo. So, I routinely use Heine slant pros. I don't need night sights. I spent the money on training to be able to shoot in low light and darkness with an ergonomically correct framing. Night sights also don't help you if you are shooting from strong side retention. |
New to Glocks, what is that? |
A happy switch. (Video) |

Do just like mine.......(smeagle) MY PRECIOUS (smeagle).......and really you already got the right idea 1. Glock 19 2. smooth trigger like on all full size modles, they fit compacts!!! 3. night sights of your choice however there are recommended ones. TFOs for example 4. Crimson Trace lazer grips.......i personaly LOVE them, however some dont like lazers 5. you already know about the TLR1........nuff said.......im happy with mine!!! Above is a nice example of the perfict all around defence pistol!!!!!! and there are still things you can do/mod. examples are.................. 1. get several pierce grip extensions but get the +0 ones it add a nice place for your pinkey and in my opinion completes the grip. 2. get a................um butt plug or a grip plug. you know what im talking about![]() 3. get a couple of the 33rnd mags.......but try to get glock brand, iv seen pierce brand jam. 4. match SS brl. |
Is that something I can actually buy or what? The site says that some of the products are available only to select individuals. I wonder what the criteria is. EDIT: Never mind. Law enforcement and Military only? WTF?????? Well I think I'll probably end up getting my dad a rail light since it's I WOULD get the Fire-Selector as shown but something tells me it'll end up costing almost as much as the Glock itself. I found this and it seems like something that would be fitting glockmeister.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/6_37/products_id/177

I just ordered a set of Meprolights for my G19. I am getting the set with the green front and yellow rear dots. I also like swapping for a 3.5 lb connector. The extended slide lock can be helpful in locking the slide to the rear, but it is useless other than that. I don't bring the pistol into battery that way. I recommend grasping the top of the slide with your off hand and sling shotting the slide. I do like a rubber grip sleeve on a Glock, but it is just a personal preference. I by no means consider it a requirement. Jay |
So the extended slide release is not useless, it is just useless to you. I use mine all the time, and that is to release the slide, not just lock it back. If I find myself in a situation that I can't use the slide release, I will gladly use the overhand method of releasing the slide and chambering a round. But if I can't use the other hand, it's nice to have the extended slide release there, just in case. And if neither of those methods are available for whatever reason, I still practice chambering a round by snagging the rear sight and using that to chamber a round. I try not to limit my options when it comes to this stuff. I am surprised at how many people do. |

Slide release is a fine motor skill, in a stressful or combat situation your fine motor skills are gone. That's why you rack the slide with your hand. Don't waste your money on the extended release. Monies can be divderted and used more wiesely. ALSO I saw someone post re: and extended safety??? Must be the version 666 glock that has that new extenal safety? Congrats on the purchase...enjoy |
Do you mean those fine motor skills that control the magazine release also? |
Yep, that's why it's a good idea to have 15-17 rounds in there before you have to try and reload. |
So why has the 7 round 1911 been so successful over so many decades? |

or a grip plug. you know what im talking about
