just looking for some input on the glock 34 I want to get a competiton gun and i am thinking this might be the one.  What is the diference between the glock 17 L though?  Has anyone ever used this gun for competiton?? is there any other guns that even compare to this sorry for all the questions thanks

I think the 17L slide is longer.  But the distance between sights is awesome for accuracy.

also I think  glock 17L is special order now days, or used, no more gun store display unless it's sat there a loooong while.

I like the 34, but holsters will be an issue.

why will holsters be a problem??  I have found some kydex paddle holsters are those good for competition?

holsters arent an issue unless then end of them is closed.  i carry my g34 in a blackhawk cqc for a g17.  it fits fine, sticks out a bit and i had to trim it because it was hitting the extended mag release but otherwise, it fits perfect.

on the hand of the gun, i love it.  ive put about 300 rounds through mine in a couple trips and i'm still loving every bit of the gun.

17L is longer than a 34, and is too big for most competitions. They have size limits, and the "gun must fit in the box". The 17L does not. That is why most folks use the 34.

Correctamundo.  The G34 will be far more useful/versatile.  While a pretty sweet shooter, the G17L is pretty limited in application.  In fact, IIRC, I'm not aware of any competitions where it is legal.

I haven't shot competition in years, and when I did it was with a modified 1911, so I can't address that part of your question.  I will say that I like the 34 better than the 17L and only bought the 17L because I didn't have one...

I love every aspect of the 34.  I’ve had mine for a year now and have fired quite a few rounds with it.  It’s quite good right out of the box, and I’m not sure if you’re allowed to make a lot of modifications to a competition gun,  but there are some easy and fairly cheap things that you can do to make that gun shoot and feel even better than it already is.

I havent had a problem getting kydex holsters for my 34. Also, the 34 will fit just inside of the req box for IDPA competitions and it seems a number of guts are using them for that. I dont see there being an issue with using it in IPSC if it will work in IDPA.

Where do the C models fit?  Are they longer too?

I have a 34 and it is the balls, I have been shooting Hertenberger +P+ in it and I've never had a pistol shoot so well. Get one you will not be sorry. Now if Glock would just make one in 45acp!

No.  The comps are just to the rear of the front sight on the "C" models
