I have a G30 that I really like a lot, and I was thinking about buying a second one.  But then I started thinking about how wide that gun is, and I started rethinking another one, since they are a little tough for CCW use because of that.

So now I have pretty much narrowed my choices to a G19 or a G36.  I have heard that the G36 can jam if limp wristed, which I have never heard of happeneing with other models...but I only read that once on these boards.

Any opinions?

Thanks.

G19

My primary carry-gun for more than a dozen years now and zero desire to change.  As I responded in that thread a day or two ago, if I could only keep one gun at all, it would be a G19.

(I should add that I don't shoot the G30 or G36 very well (they just don't fit my hands right) and, accordingly, I am rather bised about this... )

Any of the Glocks can have failures, if limpwristed.

I would go with the Glock 19, but that's just my opinion.  Practice ammo is cheap, recoil is low to moderate (ammo dependant), quality carry ammo will kill anything you need to, the standard capacity is 15 rounds and 1 in the chamber, it will take Glock 17 and 18 magazines.

The 36 will only take Glock 36 magazines limiting you to 6 rounds and one in the chamber, the recoil is stouter (to some, I barely notice a difference), practice ammunition will cost more.

I have both. I bought a 36 so that I would have something more concealable than my 21. I bought the 19 for my g/f and she ended up not liking it so I started shooting it. I am not crazy about 9mm handguns, but I really like the Glock 19. It is a great size, small enough to conceal but large enough to still be accurate.

I have probably put about 500 rounds through my 36, I have put probably 5000+ rounds through my Glock 19.

edit My Glock 36 runds like a champ though. I do remember hearing about some of the very first ones having a problem, but mine, which I got about a year after they came out (maybe less) runs great. It is a funny shaped grip, kind of oblong. My 19 is a much nicer gun to handle, however it is an older one without the finger grips.

19 if you are only going to buy one. I don't worry about which Glock I'm going to by, but the order I'm going to buy them in.

Of those 2 I would say the 19.

Personally though, I would get a G23. Same size as a 19 but a much better round.

I vote for the G19!  I use 2 G19's for Executive Protection work and I can't say enough good things about them.  There awesome!

I just bought the 30 a while back and wanted another one, so I went with the 32, but I like the .357 Sig and have a P229 in that caliber as well.

I agree the 19, 32, and 23 are the best all-around size and must have Glock.

G19...the "thinking man's Glock". Others such as the 36 or 32 or 23 are good guns, but you need a G19.

Isnt the GLOCK 32 built upon a beefier frame? I was told to buy the GLOCK 32 and get a jarvis dropin 23 and 19 barrel. 3 guns for the price of one basically.

I've been looking around and you can get replacement GLOCK barrels for under a hundred dollars a piece

Thanks for all the opinions.  I was reluctant to go with the G19 because of my own pro .45 bias, and because that is just one more caliber I'd have to stock.

But given the strong G19 bias I am seeing here, I am leaning to the G19.

BTW, I'm not considering the .40 or .357 Sig because I have a strong like for calibers with the greatest amount of "scroungability" in the event the S ever HTF.  For that reason I stick to standard military calibers.

I really like my G19 and my G26 conceals even better. Actually like shooting the G26 more because the outward buldge on the backstrap is higher.

G19 was stated to be the best all around glock a while back in one of the gun magazines i read... I have had one and loved it.. i currently carry the 26, because i have small hands and it disappears when i carry it in my galco IWB holster. but for you, steer clear of the 36 and get the 19!

i have a model 23 and a 36. i do not have the 19 but i have a friend who does. i carry and i am a smaller guy so it is harder for me to conceal comfortably so i carry the 36. id rather have7 rounds of 45acp then 9 or 10 of the 40 or 9mm. but if i had to choose between the two and carry was not the main concearn for me i would go with the 19!!!! good point on the scroungeability but the next best and most common caliber is the 45acp. a 9mm glock or 357sig is in the future for me. just not sure what one yet.

G19 or G23.  I have a G19 and a G26.  I carry the 26 because it fits in my pockets.  (had to go shopping anyway lost weight got tired of always wearing a belt in shorts)

G19 is probally the best all around glock out there.

When the SHTF a G19 or a G23.  Why I say a G23 because many police departments are getting 40 S&W handguns now.  That being said I am sure you will be able to find a 40SW handgun if the shtf or in that case a M9 in 9mm.
