Ok so i bought a new G23 and shot about 300 180 GoldDots through it.  These were, admitedly, stout rounds.  I also put about 100 low power fmj through it.  No problems except when i put my light on it...another story.  Anyway, packed up the Gun for another trip to the range to day.  Before I even fire the first shot I notice the front sight is gone.  It had fallen off in my gun case driving to the range.  Now should I be worried that maybe that front sight hole is outta spec?  Or should I just go ahead and slap some tru-glos on it (which I wanted anyway) and not worry about it?  It's still under warranty and I'm sure Glock would take care of me but I would rather just go ahead and put new ones on.  I guess my question is should i send it back to Glock to look at because the hole might be screwed up (if the front sight itself was the problem then I don't care....it's gonna be replaced anyway) or will I probably be ok just putting the new Tru-glos on?  I have heard that the stock glock plastic sights are crap so maybe this is just the prob?

Thanks.

Sounds like a freak accident and I'd bet your slide is fine, but if you are worried about it contact Glock. Might be worth it for a little peice of mind.

I saw a guy lose his sight at a shoot. We were supposed to shoot under a board that was laying across a 55 gal drum to simulate firing through some kind of low window or something. He hit the tip of his slide agaist theboard as he drew and the sight popped off. Interesting he just fired away, indexing with the slide, and got pretty good hits.

You don't need any sights, they're for n00bs!

The stock sights suck, especially the front (it's staked on). Get good low profile steel sights.

Ok so i should be able to replace these with the following tools right:

TGS Front Sight Tool

TGS Rear Sight Tool

I want to put these sights on:

TGS Tru Glows

Anything else I would need?  Should I get a bench to clamp that rear sight tool too?  Never done this before.

Thanks for the help.

I would hope so!

I was shooting my friends G22 with trijicons and the front sight fell off while shooting. Trijicon replaced it for free though.

Just call Glock and get a replacement front sight.  The reason yours fell off was because it wasn't installed properly in the first place.  Whenever I get a new Glock, I always take a small screwdriver and press the retaining pin on the front sight further down, than they come from the factory.  You can hear it click into place.  I haven't lost a front sight yet.

To be honest with you, I would just use the one that fell off.  Take a needle and remove the little pin, that spreads the little legs.  Squeeze the legs back together, re-install the sight, and re-install the little pin, pushing it down as far as it will go. Your done.

Thanks for that.  Yeah it looks like an easy fix.

Thanks again to everybody for the input.
