| Does anyone know whether you can purchase just the polymer OD frame. And if so where and how much? |
Glock will replace your frame for about $40. But I think they will only do so, if the frame needs replacing due to damage. But even at $40, it would be pretty dumb to get a new one just to have a different color. A new Glock may cost several times more than that, but if it was already bought, you are still paying the $40 above what you already paid for a gun. So you aren't saving any money at all. |
From posts on here, people have gotten frames replaced by Glock so they had a later generation frame with the light rails and such. The price quoted was $140, not $40. I've never done it so I can't give the details first-hand, but that was the info posted on here. |
And I have been a member on Glocktalk for over two years, where there is a greater number of Glock knowlegeable people than here, and many more people that have had frames replaced. Glock used to charge $40 for a replacement frame. It has recently gone up to $47 if I am not mistaken. If someone paid $140 for a frame replacement, that probably included shipping, and a slide refinish, or maybe even night sights. Or they may have even bought one of the new replacement frames for Glocks which are not made by Glock. They are aftermarket. Glock does not charge $140 for a replacement frame. |
Glocktalk thread... I called Glock today and these are the prices: To refinish the slide, inspect it and replace anything inside that is worn: $45.00 and no tax. To replace the 1st or 2nd generation lower with a new, 3rd generation lower and all new internals: $150.00 + local sales tax. To replace a broken lower with a new, 3rd generation lower: $43.00 + tax. |
Well, it looks like you have new and groundbreaking information. Because for the longest time, Glock would not replace frames unless they were broken. Didn't matter the generation. From the looks of it now, they overpriced them so no one would want to take advantage of the sale. Just about anytime Glock works on your gun, they replace all the internals anyway. So for them to charge $110 for all new internals, just because you are replacing a non-defective frame sounds a little bit out of line. Especially coming from Glock. |
Last I heard, you can do it, but there is something like a 6 month wait at a minimum, because OD frames are made less frequently. I don't know why they would tell you it couldn't be done. The OD frame guns are not any more expensive, and they aren't any more special. They simply add OD die to the plastic, instead of black. |
