I bought a Sprinco guide spring for my G17. It always seemed to work great with no failures. Then I changed to a G17C. Every time I attempt rapid fire, it will jam. Do you guys think that changeing to a compensated barrel and slide has anything to to with it ?

Tomorrow I will test it out with the factory glock guide spring. I could not change it at the range because I had the factory spring in my safe at home.

If any of you guys have had problems with these Sprinco guide springs please tell me your story.

I'm not a fan of the so called recoil reducing systems for the Glock, especially for a serious use pistol. I dont believe your C model Glock has anything to do with the unreliability of the Springco system as they have proven to be unreliable in Non C model Glocks as well although it is possible the C models are a little more sensitive.

A friend of mine recently purchased a Springco for his G32. It proved to be totally unreliable causing jams every several rounds. When he called Sprinco to get a refund as stated on their website, they were less than cooperative.

The Sprinco systems uses a dual recoil spring design, nothing magic here. The secondary or smaller spring is supposed to dampen recoil when the slide is almost at the rear most position of travel. This is similar in design to the HK USP pistols although HK's works.

My experience with the Sprinco system in the Glock is that it is a worthless and unreliable upgrade. The last 1/4" inch of rearward slide travel is very stiff making it diffcult to chamber a round, and causes many failures to eject.

If you need to change springs for custom loads and such, look at the guide rods and flat wire springs from ISMI. If you're looking to reduce recoil, I would pass on any of the so called reduction sytems out there for the Glock as there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Thanks for the input. The only reason I thought the c had somthing to do with it is because the c model would release gas through the port in barrel/slide possibly meaning reduced blowback on the slide. With the Sprinco pin it may just slow it down a touch more to cause a failure to feed.

I will test my 17c with Glock factory spring in a few hours. I will post the results.

I went out to test it with the factory spring and it jammed every 3 rounds. What could this be ? This gun has not even seen 100 rds . Is there a way to trouble shoot other problems ?

what type of jams? Have you tried other mags and ammo?

It jams a round almost in a horizontal position so the bullet is facing down toward the mag. It is not feeding into the chamber.

I tried different mags (33rd and the 17rd) . I was shooting Remington 9mm and Winchester white box 9mm.
