I was reading another thread in here about a broken striker spring and got to thinking, what parts on a Glock are wearable or failure prone? I have rarely read about broken parts but was thinking that with 6 Glocks having a set of replacement parts for the most commonly worn out or broken parts would be a good idea. Does anyone have a good source on these? I have never bought any because I have never had any problems, but as the round count gets up there having spares couldnt hurt. Thanks!

The main ones I can think of:

1. (coil) trigger spring -- either get spares, or use a NY-1 which won't break
2. plastic guide rod -- get spares, or get a steel one
3. extractor
4. striker spring and spring cups
5. plastic sights

Parts that break more often than others are the slide lock and/or its spring and the trigger spring.

I had a chipped extractor in an older G17 but extraction was still about 98%. I also had lost a front sight that came off after shooting the gun.
Over the years I have accumulated about every part as a spare for the different models but a slide and frame.

GotM4 posted this list in the thread you're referring to:

Since parts are hard to find where you are, I'd keep on hand.

2-3 of each:
Striker spring
trigger spring
slide lock spring
firing pin safety spring
recoil spring assy

1 ea:
spare set of spring cups
extractor spring
firing pin
spacer sleeve
spring loaded bearing
extractor
locking block
all three pins

Yeah, get the parts in that list. I know I will. Never again shall I be caught unprepared!

Midway carries most of the springs but none of the solid items. Anybody have a good place to pick up firing pins and extractors and such?

OMB Express Police Supply has the absolute rock bottom prices on most parts.  Shipping is a bit high but when you place a decent size order, it's right in line with anyone else.  Either because of their stock levels or customer orders, I've had some items backordered but was not charged shipping on these partial orders.

I found that 2 high priced parts - firing pins and locking blocks are cheaper at CDNN than any other source.  High shipping ($9.99 regardless of order size) so stock up.

Have used Glockmeister before finding above sources.  First rate service but prices are way above OMB and CDNN.

+1 on teh parts mentioned aboved..

Im about to compile a list myself of glock replacement parts as jsut literally the other day, i managed to lose my front sight off my G35.. thing was plastic so not really unexpected..  I just need to upgrade the sights to something better..

but yea, very timely thread.. im definitely going to have to get some of those components as spares..
