Does anyone know the average striker spring lifetime? because mine just broke. Now I'm fucked up without a handgun until I can find a new one.

That's a first for me. Call Glock tomorrow and they might send you a replacement for free. Just don't tell them you are not an armorer(or are you?) and you should be ok.

Normally I need to replace them at 20K rounds, normally they don't break they normally just get too weak and the pistol won't fire.

Are they hard to find in Israel? Can you order one from someone like Lone Wolf or can you call GLOCK Austria and get one?

I can't call GLOCK 'cause officialy they don't recognize us hich

Try contacting Oberlands(sp) in Germany. They might be cheaper?  I guess I will keep a spare handy. My G24 has over 60k with the orginal spring.

With shipping it'll cost more for sure, and I cannot wait so many days for this part. This is my one and only handgun, and I depend on it because I live in high proximity to the border.

If you bought a Glock in Israel, they will officially recognize you. That is, of course, unless You officially didn't buy the pistol from them.

Make sure you get a new firing pin channel liner as well. That spring may have gouged up the one that came in the pistol.

It's from a 3rd side importer AFAIK. That is, they (the importer) buy them from someone who buys them from Glock.

Alright, I'll sure get a new one, thanks! (I also need to get a new sleeve, (the part on the rear) mine broke a bit when I took the striker apart)

TAg!

Wow.  I never thought of stocking spare parts for a glock.  Maybe I ought to.

Or just have a spare Glock or two in the safe

Wolff also makes a Glock striker spring, maybe you will have better results purchasing through them?  (Don't know for sure, just offering an alternative.)

Good luck with your Glock pistol, stay safe over there.

was this gun purchased new, if yes, how many rounds through it?

Since parts are hard to find where you are, I'd keep on hand.

2-3 of each:
Striker spring
trigger spring
slide lock spring
firing pin safety spring
recoil spring assy

1 ea:
spare set of spring cups
extractor spring
firing pin
spacer sleeve
spring loaded bearing
extractor
locking block
all three pins

Bought used. Gun was originally made circa 1998 (CPN serial, 2 pins only). Unknown number of rounds by previous owner. Bought by my father in 2001. Around 2,000 rounds until the gun was given to me in July 05. Just about 8,000 rounds by me since then.
Based on the amount of wear shown on other Glock 19s I've seen (purchased new and still in posession of original owner), I guess the original owner passed around 2,000 to 4,000 rounds thru it.

My ultimate goal now is to have the spare parts to build 3 new G19s given the frames, slides and barrels

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if keeping a Glock cocked affects the striker spring's life?.

I know other striker fired pistols often misfire with light hits if kept loaded, cocked with tension on the striker spring.

For that reason, I think the Glock is a poor choice for an LEO weapon. I keep mine in "condition 3", full mag, nothing in chamber, uncocked trigger for the house and I do not carry it for CCW.

Well, it's not the case with this spring... this gun is always carried in condition 3 (except for special occasions) because you get in real deep shit for an AD/ND around here.

Nope, it's not an issue with GLOCKs.

This may be a little off topic, but damn, Glock doesn't recognize Israel?  I wouldn't buy any of their shit then if that were the case.  I was considering buying another Glock 21, but if they're that close minded then fuck 'em.

It's because of them frogs... Europe has a weapons Embargo on us, and the French started it. Beretta, Glock, H&K, SIG, FN, etc... none of them are imported directly from the company. Luckily, they are imported thru a 3rd party. Add this to the fact that most people can't get a permit for a handgun, and you get badly inflated prices.
Imagine paying 1600$ for a standard USP9, if you can get it at all, 1800$ for a SIG, 1400$ for a GLOCK, and so on.

Move to Texas.  Always have room here for a gun owner.  In fact, there is a house 3 doors down from me right now that is for sale.

Glock Safe Action Trigger. When the weapon is cycled, the slide returns forward, and the striker is at rest, completely. Until you release the trigger and reset the trigger bar on the disconnect, the striker stays forward.

Only when you apply pressure to the trigger does the cruciform make contact with the striker, drawing it rearward, giving it the kinetic energy needed to fire the round.

Ok, done. Due to an obscure government law you can't just buy replacement parts for your gun. It's also in the grey legal field to buy parts from the net.  You can buy new parts from a certified dealer, have them installed by a weaponsmith (which is total BS) and keep the old ones.
They didn't had everything in stock, but I replaced the striker, trigger, safety piece, slide stop and takedown springs and the spacer sleeve, and bought another recoil assembly (which you can buy since it doesn't require a weaponsmith).
Then I ran 200 rounds of WWB thru it in about 5 minutes. Ran smooth as butter. topped it all with Hoppes No. 10 and a new cleaning tools set. Also wanted a 31 rounds mag but there's a shortage since the AWB was dropped.

When they'll have additional parts in stock I'll go there and finish replacing everything. So far I have:
a recoil assembly
a trigger spring
a slide stop spring
a takedown spring
an extractor (the non LCI one)
a 5lb connector

Thanks alot for your support guys!

since no one will sell guns/parts to Israel

isn't it easier and cheaper to get a IMI gun like a Jericho or something

I can see where you prefer a glock , but Im just curious if domestic guns are alot cheaper

7/11/2006 11:43:15 PM EDT
[#30]
Yes, domestic guns are alot cheapers. You can easily get a Jericho for around 200-250 USD, even less. You've also got spare parts lying around like crap.
The problem is - as bizzare as it may seem, the Israeli civilian weapons market is barely alive. This is due to the fact that most people can't get a gun permit, and those who can mostly don't give a damn about their handguns.
To this, add the fact that the law allows you to have just one handgun - that's it. No other weapons allowed (except for some exceptions). Therefore, I prefer to pay more and give up my patriotic feelings in favor of a handgun I could count on "with closed eyes".

Jericho is also heavier, and I don't pack only when I'm showering or asleep. Also, I always pack two spare mags - a total of 50 rounds, which is the maximum the law allows you to hold.

[#31]
This is why I always prefer to buy a new gun. You don't know how the previous owner takes care of it, or how they play 'expert gunsmithing'
I bought 5 glocks, none of them ever break a part. It helps if they're new too

you'd think that all of israelis are armed with the crazy neighbors you guys have.
7/12/2006 1:39:52 PM EDT
[#32]
Yeah, it's a common misconception.
7/12/2006 2:00:41 PM EDT
[#33]
Huh -- I had the impression that Israel was pretty pro-gun for it's citizens.  I figured you guys would have no trouble carrying or owning whatever you need.  Learn something new everyday....
