Recently purchased a Glock 22. AAKxxxUS. It doesn't have the finger grooved front strap so I can assume it's not a 3rd generation. Came with two hi cap original 15 round mags. I believe it's about 10 years old. Very little wear, like new. is this a 1st or 2nd generation???????

Corrected the title to indicate Glock 22 not 23 fijfi

Is the front strap stipled or checkered? I can't tell from the serial number. I'm not a real Glock expert.

Checkered I think...

If this is a LE trade in, or a refurb, I think they are an excellent value.  Many people, myself included, prefer the 2nd gen frame over the 3rd.  Good purchase.

First Generation Glocks were limited to 17's and a very few rare 19's.  The Glock .40's came after the switch to the 2nd Gen frame.

Thanks guys, Maxpower's pics made it simple, it's a 2nd generation. I bought it from a buddy who bought it as a duty weapon, but never had it out of the holster. The gun and hi cap mags are 98%. Went to Gander Mountain and bought 3 10 round mags, I'm seriously considering selling the hi caps. I have no need for them. Took it to the range yesterday, it was incredible. Never shot a full sized Glock before. It was easy to shoot, accurate, and reliable. My Lt. was really impressed. He may consider the change when we replace our 229's in a couple of years. Since most of us carry 27's as a backup, the 22 would be a logical choice.....
