local pawn shop has a 2nd Generation G19--dirty inside

some rust on the extractor

rear sights are replacements from the stock ones to some steel target sights, but there is promenant rusting on and around the sights

other than that, it seems to be in ok shape

they are asking for $469

what would be a fair-out-the-door offer, 400?  most online gunshops dont have em, and i figured that for the price, + shipping and FFL charges, it would not be any cheaper

should i even consider getting this, or wait?

400 out the door is a fair price, even with the rust, it is still an increadibly relaible weapon.  Plus it seems to have never been taken care of, even by the pawn shop.  But almost 500 is how much a good dealer will sell a new one for.  I paid ~480 for my 19 NIB w/hi caps.

the cheapest local G19s i have seen (all NIB) ranged from $525-$569+7%tax....

and this place gave me a good deal before, so i want to be fair on the pricing for this G19 he has on the shelf

mags arnt a problem for me ( i already have G17 mags that i can use)

no, this guy does not take very good care of his firearms--he sells em like he gets em

Pass.

I picked up a G19 in 98% condition for $400 (but was pristine).  I took it apart, and they guy at the shop said it hadn't been shot (except for test firing) and it still had the lube.  Evidently some guy bought it, decided he wanted a different caliber or something, and sold it.

I bought my brand new (box stil sealed, test fire date of 12/19/05) G19 with hi caps for $479 at the last gunshow on January 1st. I'd pass on the example you have described.

***ETA*** CDNN has brand new G19's with two hi caps for $449 plus $13 shipping plus whatever your local dealer charges for transfers.

Get in touch with Mark at Summit Gunbrokers and see if he has any G19 yet. He sells used G17 for $330+shipping.

$469 is way high. You can easily get a new one for that.

I agree on the pass.  Like many have said, that is nearly new price.  My third-gen G19 was 499.99 with 2 high-caps.  The mags even had the RESTRICTED imprint on them since I bought it within weeks of the AWB lifting.  They hadn't even got in the regular ones.

too much. new ones run about $499 around here, with police trade ins running anywhere from $350-400.

Hell no.  I've bought pristine 3rd gen 19's for $400-425.  At $350 I'd consider it, but the rust bugs me.

I would offer him $350 cash. Make sure you have the cash out and in your hand when you make the offer.

Amen!!

This is the guy you want to deal with.
As stated, call and see if he has any more 19's in. If he doesn't, he will probably have some more in shortly.

FWIW, I picked up  a 3rd gen LNIB  off of EE  with n/s with  10 hi cap mags for $525. I think $400-425 for a 2nd gen would be tops.

$469 is definitely way too high, $400 is a little more reasonable, but I would still probably pass.  I bet you can find one in a lot better shape for around $400-$450.  I paid $325 for my 2nd gen G19 with 2 15 rounders and a box of ammo, but that is a steal.

for 469 i would spend the extra 30 bucks and buy a new one.i bought a used 19 it was pristine barley any rounds through it and i payed 399 for it.

No problem. CDNN always has some awesome deals. I've never actually bought anything from them though. I usually use their prices as leverage at my local shop. lol.
