I cant get used to the 19 for carry after shooting the 17 for so long. The 17 feels like butter in my hand, 19 feels like there is not enougth there or something. thinkin about dumpin it for another 17

Trade it or sell it and get a G17.  You should own what fits your hand best.

If you lay the G17 on top of the G19 and look at the backstraps they are a little different.  The arch on the G19 starts sooner, from the top, than on the G17.

If thats not it then it must just be the length, to me a 4 inch gun balances better than a 5 inch gun.

yeah, the sad part is i used to have a g19 a long time ago and was happy with it. However, when i shoot now; my groups with the 17 are crazy and feels so right in my hand . The 19 feels ok but it is not as comfy as the 17 to me.

Where in TX are you?  I'm in DFW and have a 2nd Gen G17 (less than 200 rounds fired) which I might consider trading for your G19....

Happy Birthday Tri,

I found the same problem. I have had a G-17 for a while now.  A friend of mine bought a 19 and brought it by the house to do some target shooting.  I ended up getting my hand cut up from the slide on the 19.  It didn't sit high enough in my hand to get away from the slide when it recoiled.  I have never had this problem with my 17.

I have had this problem/debate with myself as well.  I have practiced CCW draws with the G19 and have not experienced any problems gripping it at high speed but the G17 still feels better in my hand.  Therefore, in the summer months I will carry my G19 or G30 and in the winter my G17 or G21.  One other thing I tried was a + 2 extension on the G19.  That seems to help a bit as well.

I put 2 rnd mag extensions on the mags and it feels fine now. The 19 just felt too shallow in my hands without the extensions.

the 19 is a tad small for my monster hands as well.  but i bought it as a comprimise, since my wife has tiny hands.  eventually it'll just be her gun, and i'll get something larger.

I'll give you $100 for it and I'll even cover the shipping.

Seriously,  I had a 19 for 2 years and then found the 34.  I just can't "love" the 19 like I used to.

+1 ,

bought a 34 a few months ago & now I'm thinking of selling one of my 19's for a 17 or maybe another 34

I too like the G17 better than the G19 but how do you guys plan on carrying the G17?  Or are there other guns that are your carry guns?

I had this same exact feeling about my G19 when I first bought it. It just did not feel right for some reason. Oddly enough those feelings go away when you actually shoot it enough to get used to it. Now it would be one of the last firearms I would ever part with. It's stone reliable, compact & easily concealed, and very accurate at combat ranges. I consider the G19 to be one of the finest pistols ever made; right up they’re with the 5" 1911 and certainly a step above any less than 5" 1911.

i've tried a G19 and really like it.  in fact i was going to get one but now maybe i'll try out all the sizes to make sure the G19 fits best

I am a 1911 guy. Now every once in a while I carry a Glock. When I do I use the 19. They are very reliable and really accurate as well. If you take a 17 and a 19 grip them in your hand and then set them down on a table or something (set the magwell down while still gripping the gun, don't just set the gun down) you will see that the 19 and the 17 have a different angle if you will. I pesonally fing the angle of a 19 close to that of a 1911. Not so for me with a 17. I do like the larger grip and longer sight raduis of the 17 but I only own one and it is a 19. Ymmv.
