This is turn key.  All I really need to know is the depth of the cut so I can figure out which set of ameriglo suppressor sights I need, and thats it.

I will absolutely be buying a 17 and 19- when they make a V/6 performance trigger, they will get that too.

Actually, maybe I'll wait for the 19....get a 17 and 45, then snag the 19.6 COA when they release that.........

Yes I think quite a few people are overlooking the positives by saying that Glock is only innovating by copying the aftermaket improvements.

I will probably look at them in store but I rarely buy NIB guns anyway. I might get a G19 if I can though. I want to see the G26 models first (if theyre released at SHOT)

There is a whole lot of good in the gen 6, a bunch of value added stuff that 75%+ of glock owners have done or partially done.  Glock does not need to dick with mechanics, reliability, or accuracy of the pistol.  These mildly simple upgrades will make a huge difference in shooter interface.  The 1 thing id wished theyd done, switch over to a swappable backstrap like shadow system, not the gen4 type add even more material to change backstrap shape.

They claim it is the same size as Gen 5 but with material removed to make the gas pedal.

What is the difference between the 17 & the 47 now that they shortened the DC on the 17?

Besides the Gen 5 vs Gen 6 differences, they just rebranded the G47 back to be the G17.

They likely realized they had too much recognition with the model 17 to let that go.

The aftermarket mods for the thumb ledge/gas pedal are usually cut into the frame (I believe at least) so if this is similar it shouldnt affect holster fitment

Safariland did a video from the reveal showing him fitting the Gen 6 into a bunch of their holsters with no issue.

Makes sense since the RMSc and DPP share screw hole spacing, it would just be a different insert with the shear pins moved accordingly.

James said in the TFBTV video that Glock measured all their employees’ hands and developed a palm swell that fit the 80% average of hand sizes. So I guess it depends on how your hands compare to “average” people.

Havent photos/drawings been posted that show, internally the rounds are already stacked to max capacity for stacking and feeding? Changing the mag might make the grip narrower though.

At this point changing the magazines on the G19/G17 frame guns would be a death sentence for the brand I think

The benefit would only be in G43/G43x/G48

It has been confirmed on other sites like PF that holster fitment isn’t going to be an issue. The fence around the slide release is roughly the same height at the slide release, not larger so no issue there and the gas pedal isn’t that much more larger than the standard gen 5. For context I use a gas pedal on my X300 which sticks out significantly more in the same area and it hasn’t effected any of my holsters from my various leather and kydex holsters as well as my Safariland holsters. It is a non-issue

Thats true, in the P226/P229 mags they increase capacity with a different follower dont they? Or maybe the baseplate

Regardless, if they squeeze 1 more round in an all metal G17 size mag then can they even get 1 more in a g19 height mag? Just a thought

Which they achieve by optimizing the follower and spring size a bit.

You cannot increase OEM Glock mag capacity by widening their internal geometry, they already have a fully staggered double stack width inside them.

The only thing Glock could do is narrow the mags in their external dimension, which would allow them to theoretically make the grip of their guns narrower if they wanted.

We've been hearing this for years. Personally, I don't think there's any features that HK, S&W, Canik, CZ, FN, Walther or Sig provides that are some big game changing innovations. What? Gaudy slide work, ports/comps, better sights, FCU's? IDGAF about any of those features, but that's just me.

The only thing I've starved for a bit was aggressive grip texture and direct mounted optics, which the COA did well, and hopefully gen 6 texture is good.

I wouldn't complain if they had a PDP trigger there though.

I picked my 17 up today, but haven’t shot it yet. I mounted a Defender XL and installed taller sights today.  I will shoot it tomorrow. I used the screws marked Glock MOS that came with the Defender - M4 x 0.7 / 9.8mm (not the shorter screws with the Glock MOS plate adapter). There appeared to be plenty of screw below the optic so they should provide good thread engagement.

The grip feels smaller and the texture is better than prior generations. I briefly tried the M and L backstraps and like the size added but the texture on them doesn’t wrap all the way around so using them would create a strip along either side of the grip without texturing that is otherwise present on the frame. I will have to shoot with them installed and see if I like either better than without.

The trigger reach is shorter and the trigger pull feels around the normal 5ish pounds but smoother than some of the Gen 5 stock triggers. The trigger bar doesn’t feel like it’s rubbing against the ambi slide stop like on most Gen 5’s.

Was able to snag a G19 today, check your local dealers, they seem to be trickling in.  My local got two G17s and two G19s in this afternoon.  Was only able to get 50 rounds through it, not a lot but 0 malfunctions, slide lock on empty. Grip feels good and an overall improvement over previous generations, for me atleast, i dont feel the need to stipple/grip tape etc.  Optic mount has gap on both front and rear on the slide, so will have to see how that holds up over time. Trigger reach does feel a little bit shorter. Trigger pull feels about the same as other glocks, maybe a little smoother, 5ish pounds.  I havent tried the other included back straps yet.  Holsters, I have a Tenicor Certum lux2 holster and a trex arms raptor holster, both fit and lock in well, no wobble.

They are very subtle visually, but by feel they very obvious.

There is a lot to like about the Gen6.  My 5's will likely be finding new homes.

TXPO

[#48]
I agree with TXPO. The palm swells are subtle but combined with the other minor changes in the grip shape the Gen 6 feels much better to me than prior generations. I have large hands (L or XL gloves), but short fingers. The change in the grip and trigger reach are much better for me and do what I would otherwise do with aftermarket parts on prior gens.

I shot just under 250 rounds through mine today. For the most part, it felt like shooting a Glock. The trigger is smoother feeling and in my sample the slide stop does not move like in the Gen 5 due to contact between the trigger bar and slide stop. But it’s still heavier than I prefer. So I will definitely put an OEM minus connector in it.

I have limited experience shooting a G47.5 but the G17.6 seems softer with the older style recoil spring. It didn’t seem harsh at all. And my primary/USPSA gun is a G34.5 with a 13 pound recoil spring and a bunch of other mods. I have a steel gen3 guide rod with 15 lb recoil spring I will eventually try in it, but I’m not sure it will be necessary or even preferable over the stock spring.

I also shot mine with stock mags, stock mags with Arredondo extensions, pmags with Arredondo extensions, and 1st gen and 2nd/current gen mec-gars. All ran without issue. The new extractor launched brass further than usual for a Glock too.

Two of the Gen 6 are nearly done in first article form.  Over the years we've dialed in the RMR and ACRO footprint for Gen 5 MOS plates, so the upper section won't change except what we want to do to better accommodate Gen 6's new pocket dimensions.  The bottom is where we need to pay a lot more attention, Glock doesn't share dimensions and info with anyone, we need a bigger sample size than we have presently in order to arrive at an educated, best effort estimate at tolerances and dimensions for the ORS footprint.  Given the contractual responsibilities, this is the only play for us.  I.e. we might not be first, we have to be best.  We know the agencies that use our plates now will be testing them, whereas our Gen 5 MOS plates have had years of proven reliability and success, Gen 6 FCD plates will need to be just as good.  We'll disclose the material and design as soon as they're done, but you can expect to see at least one of them at SHOT in the hands of a major optics manufacturer.
