What's the consensus? Comparable to anything? Good to go for combat carry in the sandbox?

It would be my first choice.

I have owned an absurd number of glocks in my life, and have done some really terrible things to them. If you use good ammo, I really can't think of a better handgun in 9mm to carry in dirty enviironments.

Dump enough sand in and even the AK will fail to function. With decent care, the Glock is at least as reliable as any other handgun in sandy conditions, and better than most.

The Iraqi Army are issued Glocks and so far I haven't heard of any problems nor do I expect to

Doesn't really matter, it's better than a 1911 in a sandbox.

I live in Utah and go shoot in the dirty dust box and my Glock 19 runs like a top. I love my 1911s but in the drt mud and grime I will take my Glock.

The only way for that to happen is if there was enough sand to prevent the cartridge from seating properly and that is going to be hard to do due to the tapered case.

There's a few Les Baers over their, and my information indicates that they run fine.
