OK I have a 17,19,26 & 34 Why a 17L? What would make it better than a 34? My 34 is so tricked out it isn't funny. I have the Tritium Fiber optic sights Dale Rhea 2 1/2 pd trigger Mag Well also has the Mag release reworked at the Rogers school. Can anyone give me a reason other than its the only Glock 9 mm I dont have (yeah dont say an 18 as I am in Michigan and cant have one) |

Well, some guys seem to think they shoot a bit better (mostly, "handle recoil" better) than the G34's...me, I prefer the 34. I had an older G17L with the comp cuts that won me quite a bit of loot, but I let her go for a really good price many years ago and don't regret it now that the G34 is available. I have a friend OCONUS who absolutely worships his 17L and he carries a standard 17 with NS on duty every day. He packs that 17L off duty most of the time! (He can personally own one handgun and his choice was the 17L...wouldn't have been mine, but it IS his) Hell, get it, but get the standard, non-comped barrel. JMO |

If you already have a 34, the 17L probably isn't going to be a big improvement. I used to own a 34 and it was great. I just got the 17L and it's juuuust a bit better IMO. It just takes the 34 a little further. I'm actually 'untricking' mine. I'm going to a standard mag release and a standard 5.5 pound connector. I just prefer a nicely polished 5.5 pound connector to anything else. I was out today shooting the 17L against my tried and true 20. I bought some 9mm 147 grain Win. USA ammo and the 17L started shooting like a laser gun, matching my best 10mm groups at 25 yards. If I owned a 34, I probably would not have bought the 17L, but Im glad I did. It is just plain sweet. |
