So who is running the .125 front and .165 rear and whos is running the .140 front and the .165 rear and what are the impressions of each and the accuracy of each? Which one gives you a better sight picture and is better for shooting out to 25 yards with POI/POA and does not cover up the target at distance?
From what I am thinking the front .125 being thinner allows more light around it and would being a little less accurate closer in but at distance be more accurate. The .140 front being thinker would be more accurate closer in and less at distance due to covering up the target. |

Have looked all over for the New Ameriglo Bold square rear sight and orange front sight but can not locate them any where to buy. Called Ameriglo but they say they do not have them for sale.

Make sure they are installed right to left in the dovetail. I used a plastic gunsmith hammer to install both of my FBI rear sights (I usually use brass punches). They didn't need any fitting either. View Quote |

Hey I used to think this too but in the last Armorers course the said it didn’t matter. They told me the dovetail is identical in dimensions L to R. I always place a little blue locktite in the dovetail when pressing them in with the MGW tool. View Quote |

Is there a simple way to tell if I have the GL-847 or GL-846?
(I don't have the packaging mine came in anymore) I want to buy a second set of what I bought last month |
|
[#9]
I just ordered a set for my G17, they are GL 846.
The guy on the phone told me they were selling them on EBay. |

[#10]
Personal observations here:
Thin front / wide open rear sights are fast but my accuracy goes to shit. Might be odd but I prefer the following combos. .125 front / .140 rear (10-8) .140 front / .150 rear (ameriglo) .140 front / .140 rear (glock front NS / steel rear field goal) I've shot the new ameriglo gen5 sights and was fast with them but not nearly as accurate as with the combos above. Again I'm odd on sights and have been migrating some of my setups from 10-8's to the glock front ns / steel rear (oem U or black ameriglo) |

Ordered them a week ago on ebay. They are still in transit. Has anyone experienced slow shipping with Ameriglo?

New sights just came in. I have not put the GL-847's on yet but the GL-846 are on (a glock 19).
GL-846 and GL-847 rear sights look to be the same. Bother are marked AmeriGlo H317. GL-846 (.140 FBI) sights are marked "AmeriGlo H3 W00 17". GL-847 (.125 FBI) sights are marked "AmeriGlo H3 W00 16". Overall width of the front sight blade are ALMOST to close to tell a difference in my opinion. Hight is the same. The orange dot difference is noticeable side by side. See photo. Does this matter in the real world to me? I would guess not..? I will know more once I install and take them out for a spin. For now I think I would prefer the GL-846 simply because the orange is more eye catching. Also, the GL-847's came with a front sight screwdriver tool. I didn't get one with my GL-846 order from two months-ish ago. Top: GL-847 Bottom: GL-846 Attached File Attached File |

Got my first set of Ameriglos yesterday and installed them on a G19 Gen 5. I went with the lime green thin front and the U-notch rear. All my other pistols are running Trijicon HD and HD XR. The Ameriglos were easier to install than the Trijicons due to the overall shape of the rear sights. Also, the Ameriglo rear sight shape is superior to the Trijicons for IWB carry purposes. All things considered, for Glock applications, I slightly prefer the Ameriglos over the Trijicons and will be buying Ameriglos for new setups. Bonus is that they are a few dollars cheaper.

So I’m a bit confused now. When I called Ameriglo and ordered the “FBI contract sights” for my 17, they sent me the .140 front. Should it have been .125?

View Quote It looks like they are considering the rear with the U notch and either .125 or .140 to be "FBI contract sights" and "Government Contact sights" interchangeably. For anyone else and future reference ask for GL-847 for the true FBI .125 or GL-846 for the slightly bigger front faux-FBI .140 sight. Personally I am leaning toward the .140 to be my preference but tomorrow should be range night and I will have both out for a spin. Also note I am an average guy and not a professional shooter; your millage may vary. I highly doubt one over the other will change my accuracy past nailing the fundamentals. |

The 0.125" GL-847 is for Glock 26 (shorter sight radius). The 0.140" GL-846 is for Glock 17 and 19.

I'm interested in these for my Glock 26, but I can't decide between the green front and the orange front.

So I noticed that my green FBI contract front sight can get "charged" just like my trijicon HD's. My orange bold sights that came with my Gen 5 don't have that capability.
Is the ability to "charge" the outline of the front sight with a white light a feature of the FBI sights, or just found on the green version? |

I have Trijicon HD's on both a P30 and a Shield. With the HD's, if I line up the sights with the top of the front sight level with the top of the rear sight, the 3 dots also line up. With the Ameriglo's, if I level the tops of the sights, the dot's don't line up. And if I line up the dots, the top of the front sight is lower than the top of the rear sight. Haven't been to the range yet to see which sight picture works. |

They use a very cheap option through USPS to ship them. My experience has been great with the sights and dealing with the company. It took well over a week to receive my sights. The second order was much faster. I guess it's hit or miss.

How wide is the rear notch on the rear sight?
ETA: Found the info. |

Great information and thanks for sharing. Im going to buy a set and will, more than likely, go with the wider front sight. IMHO, the rear notch is too wide to be used with the thin FBI front sight.

Any updates as to where to find these sights at this point? The links, at least to me, continue to not work, and I can’t find them anywhere else.
