Hey gents, wanted to lob a question out there and get some feedback.
Currently looking to pick up some magazine extensions for my G17. I know that the current craze is the steel basepads from TTI/Henning/etc. However, I'm looking to just expand the capacity of my mags real fast without having to pay $40+ per basepad. The extensions I'm looking hard at are the Glock OEM +2 that lots of people run on the G18 mags. Need for new magazine springs to accommodate the extension? Also - should I get 4-5 to dip my toe into the water, or say screw it and pick one up for each magazine? Thanks! |

My experience with Glock +2's is as follows:
With a Glock 26 mag, using same spring (it is a G19 spring 33509, 9 coil, to begin with) = +2 12 round mag With a Glock 19 mag, using G17 spring 33510, 10 coil, for reliability = + 1 With a Glock 17 mag, using Glock 17 +2 sping 2551, 11 coil, = +1 In fairness to Glock I have not let the springs rest with ammo in the mag and I am sure after a while I could get 17 in the 19 mag and 19 in the 17 mag but right now the G26 + 2 mags hold 12 rounds. The Glock 19 +2's hold 16 rounds and the Glock 17 +2's hold 18 rounds. None of the plus 2 mags with the correct springs have given me any feeding issues at all. I am cheap to begin with and when I swapped out my 17 mags springs which were new I used them for my 19 +2's. I also got most of my +2 extensions buying Glock 33 round mags and swapping out the +2's for regular base plates when the 33 round mags are on sale at midway for $24.99, making them 31 round mags. So the only springs I had to purchase were for my G17 mags. I saved a lot of $ that way and got a lot of +2 extensions while at the same time getting G18 mags. |

That thread on is full of  . What they are talking about isn't a Glock extension issue, but a loaded magazine issue. I could see in a freak way if the mag with extension were to hit at just the right angle with enough force, it could maybe push the extension forward. However there is tabs that hold them in place to prevent them from moving forward.
From the OP in that thread, I can only gather he assembled the mag wrong previously because it clearly had issues before it in even entered the magwell. |

| I heard somewhere that Glock recommends using the 11 coil spring when using the +2 extension on a G17 mag. The newer G22 mags come with the 11 coil springs and since I had some laying around I used one when putting a +2 on a G17 mag. I'm easily able to load 19 in it like that. |

| I've heard several times on different forums that in the past, Glock reps recommended against using their own mag extensions for defensive purposes, apparently related to the reports of the extensions popping off as alluded to above. I've also heard that the pre-ban era extensions had this issue, while the current production version has supposedly corrected the issue. I would really like to hear a definitive answer from Glock about this to put it to rest. I'll try contacting them and see if they can address it. |

I like the Pearce +2 Mag Extension's, for 3 reasons;
First, the texture matches the Gen4 Frames Second, they only cost me $9. each at Glockmeister Third reason, They WORK, and THEY DON'T COME OFF EASY. I've shot thousands of rounds thru my G19.4 mag's with Pearce +2's on them, and never had even 1 hiccup. I'm sold. |

I can agree with the Pearce mag extensions!
I have them on 5 of my magazines and have had no problems. I also took the dive and got my hands on 2 TTI extensions for the 2 ETS mags I have and with the included spring have not had any problems loading rounds in. Although in one of them the round loaded funny but all I had to do was unload that round and then re-insert it and they stacked nicely.
