Anyone had any luck taking the factory Glock 33rnd mag, opening up the feed lips and adding a .40 follower?  How's reliability?

Why not buy a 40cal 33rd mag,instead of damaging a perfectly good 9mm mag.

Custom Glock Racing has feed lip separation specs on their website.  G18 mags are cheap enough that a little experimentation won't cost you much.  If the experiment didn't work, you'd just need to compress the feed lips to 9mm specs and you'd have a functioning G18 mag.

There are no 22-rd. Glock mags.  There are 17-rd. Glock mags with aftermarket +5 extensions.

You might try a stronger mag spring, also.

The 29rd mags are not OEM.  They are semi-reliable from what i have researched.

The ONLY difference between Glock 9mm mags and Glock .40 mags is the feed lip separation spec and the followers.  Bet you already knew that, though, didn't you?  Duriing the ban, one could legally use 15 rounds of 9mm in a G23 mag, simply by changing the follower and conforming the feed lips to 9mm spec.  I did it, as did many others.

I tried to convert a 33rnd to allow .40. I widened the feed lips and put in a #6 .40 caliber follower. The best I could do was get 18 rnds in. Even then I noticed the sides were bulging. I compared the inside of the 33rnd to a new .40 mag and noticed the 33rnd has a ridge running up both sides that the .40 mag does not. I'm guessing this is what is causing the problem.
