I'm looking real hard at the Glock 41. I only have 1911's in 45 acp and thinking about picking up the glock. But I've also considered a 34 as I have a 17 and 19 and plenty of 17 mags. What's your thoughts of the 41?

I'm in the same boat.  My only 45s are 1911s.  Been reading up on the Glock 41, would love to have one.  If you got the cash, go for it.

If you prefer to shoot 9 though, go with the 34.  You've already got mags.

It's alright.... No 1911 so don't expect that.
Personally & a lot will agree the G21 shoots much better then the G41. Recoil is a bit more because the slide is thinner then the G21. Same frame though.
I have a G21 slide I swap on the G41 frame so I shoot both.

And I really wanted to love the 41 more. Hell, the 30 is more fun to shoot as well.
41 is snappy.

Get a 21 or a 34.

Thanks for all the replies. How does the 34 shoot compared to the 17?

Very similar. I own and shoot both but chose the 34 for my competition gun. I'm slightly more accurate with my 34. But my 17 is my bedside gun.  I have the same Dawson fiber front black rear sights on both of them.

If you don't have any glock 45's start with a Glock 30 Gen4.  It is incredible to shoot and you can carry it too.

It's nice to have both the 21 and 41.

Get the 41 and buy a 21 slide. Switch slides on the frame and have both.
You'll do better dollar wise to buy both guns though. You could sell one of the frames to
recoup some money. If you did 41, the 21 slide would need to be gen 4. The G4 slide will
cost you more.

I have gen4's 21 & 34
The 21 I can shoot as good as my 1911's
the 34's a tack driver with my coated lead 124 gr. Loads.

Funny, when Glock came out with this gun I really expected to see a Glock 40 (10mm Longslide) released soon after but it still has not happened.

For me, I don't see a whole lot of advantage to the longer barrel for a 45acp.  I like the Glock 21 as a full sized gun and the longer barrel even with it's longer sight radius doesn't do anything for me.  I would however love to get a long slide in 10mm as the extra barrel length there is needed to get the most out of the 10mm cartridge.  Hell, I would even use a 6-inch barrel that extends past the slide (I already do that).  I looked at the Glock 41/10mm conversion barrels but if I buy this gun it will be for hunting (bear) or self defense use and I prefer to avoid conversion barrels if my life is on the line.

I have a 21SF myself and have only shot a 41 a bit I like both.  I personally like the G17 most of all Glocks and the 34 comes in close second if not nearly tied (34 looks more bad ass though).

Are you serious?  If you have not seen the Glock 40 10mm you are under a rock.

I ended up with a .45 acp, just not a 41, or a glock, it wasn't even a pistol but a nice Smith and Wesson 625.  I guess I get side tracked easily.

I had a 41 for a few months and sold it.  21 shot so much better.  34 is a great shooting gun.  I won't be getting rid of my 34.

I have both the 21sf (Gen 3) and 41 (Gen 4) they both shoot great and nothing bad to say about either.

Regarding the post about the G40.
I bought one last spring, May or June I think.
I put a Burris FF3 on it, and it performs great.

For me, it is very accurate out to 75 yards.
Sighting it in at 25 yards was easy as was 50 yards.
75 yards surprised me, and at 100 yards, it's kind of scary how well it shoots.

Recoil is moderate, unless you are shooting underwood.
My reasoning for the purchase was I carried a Ruger blackhawk in the woods in .357 Mag for many years, but decided that 16 rounds of 10MM was better than 6 of the other.
The other reason is we are seeing an exponential increase in illegal marijuana grows as well as just more 2-legged crapheads out in the woods.
Hence, more rounds in quick order.
The other weapon I carry out there is a just legal barrel length old Remington 870 with slugs or buckshot in it.

I have not seen nor shot the G41, but just don't need another caliber around.

Nope, I was serious and I was under a rock.  I feel foolish as I see it was launched in Dec 2015 so I am a year and a half late.

I changed jobs and really have not been able to keep up but this is a must have for me so I need to go shopping.

LOVE mine. Very accurate, most accurate Glock I own. It lives by my bedside full of HSTs.
The only thing I did to it was install Ameriglo 3 Dot painted steel sights on it.

BTW, it is the same size as a 1911.

Bit of an update, along with the 625 I ended up getting a 21 gen 3, so I kinda got both.

Still thinking about picking up a 41.

Love my G41. I don't notice a lot of recoil difference between it and my G30 gen 4, but the 41 slide does seem to cycle faster.  Very accurate with 200gr loads.  Compared to my former G21, the 41 balances better in my hand.  No regrets.

I never cared for the G21- too wide in the slide, too wide in the frame.  But the G41 is juuuuuusssssttttt right.  Fits in my G34 holsters too.  I had MOD 1 do the undercut and stipple.
