Met a inexperienced shooter at my club who somehow wound up with a 45 GAP.
Anything that can be done to make it useful ? Can a 9mm barrel be swapped in ? what other parts would need to be swapped? Is this going to be cost effective or would she be better off to dump the thing and take her loss? |

Assuming it's a 37 there is a 40 cal conversion available, that's it. http://www.americantactical.us/5465/detail.html
I have one I bought on here, I reload for it, it's actually a pleasant gun to shoot. |

I always conceptually liked the 45GAP. It's a nice shooting round.
Hard to justify if she doesn't reload. If she was an enthusiast, I'd say either keep it and load for it, or buy the conversion barrel. Since she's a newbie, I'd recommend selling the upper (or entire gun) and replacing it with a G17 or G22. |

Does he/she have a problem with it, or it just you? She claimed to have never shot it because she expected it to recoil much more than a 9mm that she had shot. This was at a woman's range day and she handled my G19 and my full sized 1911 just fine. I expect she will be just fine with the gun but she was worried about the cost and availability of ammo . she wants to shoot fairly often |

Nothing wrong with a Glock in .45GAP. (nothing particularly right about it either). It is an effective round. You can reload for about the same cost as .45acp. Factory loaded defensive ammunition is available. Georgia Arms offers range fodder for not much more than .45acp ball. OEM mags are available as well as factory support. Support gear designed for 17/22 frames should work as well.
Would I advise a new shooter to buy one? NO. However, if she has it, she might as well shoot it. I picked up a new-in-box G37 because it was cheap ($300 out-the-door). It's chock full of Glock goodness |
