Hi everyone, my last thread gave me a lot of feedback. Today I had something presented to me and I wanted to ask a few questions on this before I do anything. It is something that I never thought about and never really looked into. Parting out an OD Green G19 Gen3.
Is there a strong market for parts? I looked around and saw a few complete slides that are used going for $400. Maybe a few a bit more than that. That was just me doing a quick search on my phone while I was out. What about the frame? Is there a market for a used frame? I have sold AR15 parts over the years. Mostly stuff I bought to build myself and changed my mind on a project. I can see that happening with an AR15. But a GLOCK? I guess I never thought about buying parts and building from scratch or as a kit. I know there 80% lower kits on the market. People want parts for them. Is parting out a Gen3 G19 worth it? I guess is what it boils down to. |

eh...only reason i would buy a slide is for a quick caliber change...
so say i have a 19 and want to shoot .40 for some reason just throw a G23 slide on it and run it...and thats if i found a cheap slide on GB or something.... Other then that i would sell the whole gun |

Other then that i would sell the whole gun I had no idea anyone was looking for used part. I just never ventured into that area for a handgun. I guess with the 80% lowers more and more people are looking for slides. It is a good shooting gun. I'm just not a fan of the OD GLOCK. If it sells it sells if not I will keep it. I might do a bit more research and if I find someone looking for a frame and someone for a slide, maybe then I will do it. |
| I just picked up a G19.4 FDE frame. I originally was going to buy an aftermarket slide, which is why I bought just the frame. I decided to go in a different direction and ended up buying the upper assembly too. So I would say yes, some people may buy just the frame. The market will be much smaller since not a whole lot of people build up their Glocks like that. They seem to be floating around the $175-250 range for a G19 frame. I bought a brand new FDE Gen4 19 frame for $250. |

Gives me more things to think about it. |

DO NOT part it until we talk. I responded to your msg.
Tim Add: Be careful buying frames. It's the upper you'll get raped on. I wanted a G41 MOS ""GREY"" frame. I could not find anymore, they were sold out. So, I bought a 20/21/40/41 'grey' frame to build me a G41. I'm still sitting on the frame because the long slide uppers are hard to come by. The shitty thing was: the frame I bought came with everything except the upper. This was including the serial number matching case. The case told the story. The frame came from the very gun I wanted: a grey frame G41 MOS. Serial number on the case sticker and frame matched. Fit's my G21 g4 upper and G20 g4 upper. One of these days I'll get a G41 MOS black frame with one of my GSSF certificates I'm sitting on now. Crappy thing is the gun will be non-matching serial numbers when I sell the black frame. IMO, buy the gun your wanting in whole. Doing it piece meal cost more. |
