Hey guys been having an issue with my 17. When I first got it I thought it was just new parts and just needed to be broken in. After a few hundred rounds I'm still having this issue. When I drop a round in the camber and release the slide the extractor will "pop-out". It will not catch on the rim of a cartridge. If I cycle the slide a few times it seems to remedy this issue. Whats the fix? New extractor? Simply sand down the sides of the extractor some?

Pictures tell it better than words. So pics incoming.

Edit: Pictures no worky today. I'll again in a second.

Simple, don't drop rounds directly in the chamber, you're going to break your extractor.

This.  Glock does not approve of doing that to the gun as it can chip your extractor and cause an in battery issue.  It's made to catch the round by allowing it to slide up into the groove of the extractor from underneath and behind, not by slamming over the rim of the cartridge.

Dang, I didn't even know this was a thing. Now that I think about it. The angle the extractor "grabs" the rim would be much different when loading from a magazine as opposed to just dropping in the chamber. Won't do that again.

Make sure and check the extractor for damage. There was a guy on here that had his LE instructor do that and it chipped his extractor.
