Hi, I just picked up a used G17 gen3 the other day. Took it to the range and was really disturbed in its accuracy. It was shooting 3" left of poa and had a vertical string of about 8". I shoot three mags with three types ammo and had the same results. I had my shooting partner try it and he had the same group.  Just for shits I got out my G19 off duty carry gun and shoot one ragged hole bulls eye. I can under stand shooting left that's a sight issue but the vertical stringing just stumps me. I was going to send it to Glock for factory sights, now wondering if it's another issue and that's why the original owner let it go for such a good price.

Thanks

Crown damaged?  Barrel lock up tight or loose?  Rifling damaged?  Sights off?  What sights?

Crown looks new, the barrel seems ok locks up fine and it's the crappy plastic factory sights.

3" left and 8" high was exactly what a Gen 3 G17 and G19 did to me with OEM threaded barrels.  No problems shooting any other Gen 3 or 4 glocks, new...used or otherwise into perfectly centered 3" groups at 25y rested.

Sent them back to Glock, and they replaced them.  New ones shot perfect.  They never told me what the problem was, but they did have me swap slide locks around before I sent them in; amazingly enough, that did shift POI slightly, but not enough to make them acceptable.

The height issue is what tells me it may be the gun.  The left bias can usually be fixed by owner trigger finger un-fucking, but in my experience the guns that ARE legitimately off tend to be slight left, and WAY high, just like that one.  Once Glock finally agreed to take mine back, it didn't take long to find out they were going to replace them....and they didn't fight me on it at all.  As far as I am concerned, that is indication that there are definitely Glocks out there that suffer this issue.

Recommendation is to do what I did and let as many people as possible shoot it, that you know shoot Glocks and are good shots.  Thats how I confirmed what I saw, and frankly thats what it took for Glock to take me seriously, one of their well known armorers shot mine and confirmed they were fucked.

Don't be surprised when they say "its you", even if you've owned 15+ Glocks and have nearly a decade of trigger time on them under your belt.

Shoot it again.  Confirm it again with a few people.  Do yourself a favor and don't tell them what the issue is, or even that there is one.  Easiest way to eliminate bias.  Preferably use Glock guys who are good shots, and have them shoot theirs first and make sure they're hitting well enough to be of diagnostic value.

It's entirely possible that there is a problem with the pistol like mentioned above.

My only advice would be to run a couple of hundred rounds through it before jumping to conclusions. Sometimes these things just need a solid break in to get everything smoothed out if it's fresh from the factory. We all know that the trigger will certainly smooth out with some use...

Both of my G19s shot much better after blasting away several hundred rounds and then giving them good cleanings and Relube. I don't know if this will effect accuracy at all on yours....and realistically it shouldn't, but anything is possible.

Maybe try disassembling it and cleaning it really good. Maybe a small flake of polymer flashing is caught somewhere or something like that.

Thanks for all the advice. I finally figured it out. I'll start this off by saying No I didn't take any pics. I'm just not a pic kind of guy.
It turned out the Frame was Bent at the accessory rail and was pushing up on the slide causing a vertical string. After having 6 other shooters shoot the dam thing we tore it down and found where the slide was rubbing and leaving bad wear marks on the end of frame.
I contacted Glock and gave them a full run down and had a buddy who is a Glock armor send it back for servicing.  So hopefully Ill hear something next week from Glock.
