All of my Glocks wear factory sights. I would like some more durable and better sights for my 17, 26, and 43.

I have a few thoughts though:

1. If I send it to Glock, I'm guessing they'll only install factory night sights. If I'm not mistaken, those are green tritium only. I don't think I want that because I would want the front sight to be a different color.

2. Does Glock sight them in for you?

3. I see Glockmeister has the option to send your slide in for new sights. They have some interesting choices with different color front sights. Does Glockmeister sight them in adequately?

4. Why do many prefer a blacked out rear sight? It would seem some sort of reference in low light would be a good thing...

5. Is fiber optic a good choice? Is it durable?

6. Who makes a fiber optic with tritium with a different color front? That seems to be the combo I am looking for.

7. Are all sight pushers the same? Or are there some that are better than others? It seems like I need a different one for the 43 slide... True?

8. The 26 and 43 are carry guns. The 17 is a range gun. Would/should that dictate what kind of sights I may or may not want?

Thanks fellas

Green last longer and is brighter than other colors.
Night sights are not necessarily going to be all that effective in zero light.  A weaponlight and stock sights would be leagues more effective than just night sights.
FO is completely preference just like black rear.  I prefer straight 8 2-dot sight.
17 is also a carry gun I carry one in winter and 19 all other times.  Sights are 100% user preference.
FO night sights check out TruGlo TFO or TFX.

Yep. I agree with above.

Green is my choice. I have some trijiconHD's in two different styles.

The bottom line with night sights....? Do they glow in the dark. Glocks are probably the most reasonably price tritium sight on the market at 56 bucks/set.

Why send your pistol to Glock? Only gonna cost you more. Lots of places can do it. If you have a assortment of Glocks, it pays to get a sight pusher. The MGW is the best, most reasonable as they make on unit especially for Glock. Granted, it will only install Glock sights, I am not interested in other makers pistols.

I bought a MGW (Maryland Gun Works) sight tool and can attest how well their made. Fiber optics.....you realize they MUST some sort of light source to carry that light to the sight picture. And, what said above, a light can be handy, but, I would NOT want it on all the time. You give the opponent a target to shoot at. Fast on, fast off, use your night side and take care of business with the bad guy whose in your home or threatening you or yours.

But, the Glock sight is made by Mephro and are quality sights for the price. Tritium tubes encased in steel. You can't hurt them. And on Glocks website, their 56 bucks for frt/rr.......can't loose for that price. Most others will be double or more, especially Trijicon's.

Thanks fellas. I am aware of the fiber optic limitations and requiring ambient light. I use one on my waterfowl shotgun. That's why I was asking about the tritium in addition.

So that leaves the questions of:

Any issues misidentifying the front sight with all three dots the same color?

For those that have blacked out rear sights... Why?

I'll look into the MGW pusher, thanks! That would eliminate any concerns I have about not being properly sighted.

I've also seen some guys that are using a dot front with a bar in the rear under the notch. Where would I find something like that?

Misidentification of the front sight is a possibility anytime under stressful shooting.  Homestly if you under an adrenaline dump you will not be able to tell the difference between a yellow, orange, or green night sight.  You are way over analyzing this and my suggestion is go shoot some different sights see what you like because sights are highly subjective.  If misidentification of the front sight is a big concern look into two dot sights it is my preference to have a straight 8 design.

Black out because it is completely user preference.  I have this setup on my G17 with armed FO front sight.

I've spent way to much on sights over the years to find what works best.

Finally found the perfect setup for me.

Rear: 10-8 with .140 opening
Front: Ameriglo ProGlo .220 front

Summary - black rear with bright orange & tritium front.

ETA: this setup on G19 x2, G17, and had them on the 34(sold it)

I might have an all black 10-8 rear for a G43 in my parts box. If it's there you can have it, not sure what I did with it.

For me, it's about only focusing on the front sight, don't wanna see anything at all on the back of pistol.

I really like Ameriglo sights, you can shop a while on their website.

Thank you all for your responses. I probably am overthinking it.

There's not really any opportunity to try different sights locally, but I am visiting my brother (Northern VA area) in a couple months. I'll research and see if there are any ranges/tac shops in his area for me to look at some different sights.

Since I'll be carrying my 26 soon for the next several months, maybe I'll just get the Glock meps and see what I think.

ETA: I really like the factory style sights with the ball in a cup. I wish they made something like that in steel with tritium.

All Green is my preference for the tritium, they last longer and are brighter.

As for the fiber optic... Sights are a very personal choice, so you will need to find out what works for you.  I personally despise fiber optic sights, but the amount of people who prefer them shows that everyone is not the same.

For "sighting them in" Glockmeister and Glock just center the rear sight in the dovetail to my knowledge.  Buy yourself a cheap sight pusher and do your own install and zero to your preference.

I bought one of these years ago and it works great for the price

I just bought a 19 gen 4 a month ago, got night sights because they gave it to me for same price as standard. I like the standard glock sight but not the plastic ones, the steel ones are rugged and fairly priced. Sights are like shoes though everybody likes something different, on a side note the night sights (factory) during the day don't pop like the factory white does.

Option to a sight pusher is a nylon or brass punch, except for tritium I'd pay a gunsmith for the install that way if he breaks a vial he can replace it. Just make sure the smith will before having him do it, lol.

I use Heinie straight eight ledges sights and have a Surefire X300 on both of my Glocks. If I was to change sights to anything else I would use the Trijicon HD. I think night sights are a must on a defensive weapon but I also believe in a light of some sort for threat identification.
