I picked up a G30S yesterday.  I had been looking for a new pistol that would be easier to carry in these hot months than my P227 SAS or G20.  I initially had looked into a G29 but I could not find one locally.  I love my G20 but it is so bulky it is very hard to conceal in the summer.  I found a really good deal on a used one but I drug my feet and it slipped away.  I then thought about a G19, I have never owned one and I had only shot one a few times.  It seemed to be a really good balance of size; not to large not to small.  Guns like the 26 never appealed to me because they were just to small for my hands.  I was turned onto the 30s but again I could not find one to handle.  I don't like to buy things, especially guns that I can not handle first.  I called every place I could think of but nobody had a G30S.  My favorite shop however did have a G29 and about 8 G19s in gens 3 and 4.  I found an amazing deal on a G19 Gen4 but the seller backed out, after he explained the situation I was disappointed but I completely understood where he was coming from.  I called my lys yesterday and they still had the G29 so I decided to go check it out.  I was ready to buy it when the guy I usually deal with came in and said "hold on I think I have something you are going to really like."  He went into the back and came out with a block G30s.  They had just got it in the night before.  I honestly did not think the reduction in slide width would make that much of a difference but I fell in love with that gun.  I asked for the best price out the door and I feel I got a great deal so I brought it home.  I find the length of the grip to be perfect, the thickness is ideal and even loaded with 10rds of 45 acp the weight is stellar.  I put 50 rds through it today and I found the recoil to be more than manageable, I was really surprised to find that it did not feel snappy at all.  I am going to have the finger grooves removed and the trigger guard double undercut.  I never liked the finger grooves and the right side of my middle finger rubs a bit on the outside edge of the trigger guard, other than that I have zero complaints.  For a gun of this size and weight I don't think the G30s can be beat.

Very nice you should get a 9 round mag and a could of 21 mags for reload. I love my 30S.4 hybrid pistol.

Roger that, I have some already in my "shopping cart"  Let me ask you this...I see they make a pearce grip extension for the 9rd mag.  Is there any reason to do this?  How does that combo compare to the size of the standard 10rd mag?

No point whatsoever defeats the purpose of a 9 round for carry and concealment.

I just picked one up this past weekend already one of my favorites. It may replace my current edc since it holds twice as much ammo as what I currently use. May have to purchase some 9rd. mags for it since it give the same profile as a g19 and sticks out a little to much for my tastes.

My 30S with the 9 round magazine is my favorite concealed carry pistol. I highly recommend the 9 round magazine to carry in the gun with perhaps a 10 round or more for a backup magazine if you feel so led....<><>....:)

Cool pistol. The 30s is a g36 slide on a g30 frame right? Love love love the small .45 Glocks. I carry my g36 all the time.

Very nice. I've been carrying one for over a year, for work. Bought the last two G30's I carried. Be prepared to sport a Band-Aid on your little finger if you do any long hi-round count range time. Everyone I know gets the pinky blister. Other than that the pistol is awesome.

That is the next .45 I buy right there. Been wanting one for a while now but I got distracted by some other guns temporarily.

Yes that's exactly what it is I confirmed with glock tech the other day. At first there were some dimensional barrel differences but now 36 and 30s slides are identical besides the markings. Old barrel on the bottom. Both work. I think they new ones need some breakin though with some ammo. Also newer barrels show less wear on the hood. Think the finish is better.

I'll agree that the 9rd flush mags are fantastic, makes carry even better.

Any issues putting my G36 slide on a Gen 2.5 G30 to get the extra capacity or is just for the newer G30s?

I don't know about that. Might have to see if it works for you.

I would think the dimensions would be the same

BRB, needed a project today anyhow.

It works, but honestly, the narrower slide and frame of the 36 is what makes it perfect for me. Maybe when it's not 90deg outside I can deal with the added bulk of the 36/30 hybrid.

The 36 is to small for me, honestly the dimension front yo back of the grip on the 30s is not much bigger than a 19 and it's about 0.25" shorter top to bottom.  Not to mention the 30s is actually lighter than a glock 19.  It's damn near perfect.

Nice Glock.
