If you're using these on a full size frame, make sure you use the 11 coil mag spring

If you're using them on a 15 round mag, you're gonna want the 17 round mag springs. Don't do the dumb thing I did.

Buy 33 round mags and swap the bottoms out with your regular mag.  It gives you 31 round mags at a cost of about $20 a piece after you factor in the +2's you stole from yourself.

Be careful with the +2 plates. I dropped my loaded OEM G17 mag with the glock +2 on the floor at my range. It came apart. Parts and half the ammo went everywhere. I still haven't found the follower. No more extended baseplates for me.

That must have been spectacular when that happened.  I have dropped a loaded G17 mag with the extended base plate and it did not come apart you must have hit it just right.

I wonder if REGULAR mags of every make have fallen and come apart and one time or another.  Probably.

A lot of people don't realize you have to also get the +2 retainer for the extension. Most places sell these separately, instead of in a kit like they should be, therfore most people don't realize you need both pieces.  Just snapping a +2 extension onto a mag without the retainer will cause quite a show when dropping partials on the ground. Kaboing!

I was riding with my partner one night when we lit a vehicle up, I'm right handed and as I exited the vehicle my +2 extension hit the door frame resulting in the extension coming off leaving me with the one round in the chamber.

This was a FIRST generation +2 that didn't have the insert.

Now the ONLY extension I trust is the ones offered by Taylor Freelance. You'd have to DESTROY the magazine to knock one off.

I thought that was known..... Yes I know I made an order once got just the base and was pissed because I assumed the insert came with it and had to make another order just to get the inserts.  It blows my mind that the insert is not included.

Agreed, it is silly to have to purchase them separately. But, I think the fact that you DO have to purchase each piece and the fact that Pearce +2's and such ilk don't use a modified retainer leads to some confusion for the less informed. The failures that I have personally witnessed have been a direct result of either Pearce extensions, or OEM without the correct retainer.

I have since switched to the TTI Firepower +4. It actually falls right in between the taper of the OEM +2 size wise. A little longer in the back, a little shorter in front. Better attachment method, and +3 to +4 depending on your magazine.

Only downside is, they are a little pricey.

My mag had the retainer in it when it blew up.
