So my wife's sisters husband has a gen 2 17 with 2 17rd mags . Bro in law said he got it from le brother in early 90's new in box. He said he has only shot it a few times. Looks new to me. Long story bitch of sister in law doesn't want handgun in house (but ok with long guns). What do these go for and what should I look for. What should I offer? I don't want to spend too much as I can get a new blue label so...

$400 because its a Gen2*

$375 if it were Gen3

*Gen2 Glocks are like no lock no MIM S&W revolvers. They are better made and worth more than their current production versions.

The woman should be put out of the house before the gun

Luckily my wife, while not really a gun nut, has accepted my hobby since I was into it LONG before we ever met.

Back in the day, officers could buy their duty weapon for about $325 when the department was upgrading to new Glocks.

I disagree.  The slide and barrel machining is better now than ever before.  The non-MIM firing pin and non-lci extractor are the only parts that were probably better.  People seek out Gen2 because they don't have the retarded finger grooves.

I'd offer $350 for it.  That's mutually fair.

I got mine LNIB only a minor scratch on it for 399 and it looked like it had maybe ....MAYBE 200-300 rounds.  Both original made as well no box.

$346.83

It's only worth more if you want it.

Since he is letting his wife keep his balls in her purse, he doesn't really deserve a fair price.

I would offer $300.  If he tries to sell to a gunshop or pawn shop, they will offer $200 tops.

So had dinner at in laws and offered $350. He told me that he is going to just keep it and buy a safe so she doesn't see it. Good for him. Bad for me.

I have to agree. After a couple of years of marriage, my first wife started telling me what I could and couldn't have and I told her she could have a divorce.
